Morning ladies!
I have today off work. I've taken DD2 to school and walked muttley. I have a hospital appointment at 12.30 then a party at a neighbours house to go to tonight if I can bribe one of my big kids to look after the two youngest.
DH (dimwit) has sorted broken oven problem by buying the cheapest oven he can find online. I am beyond livid, I have had no input or choice. How can I plan to cook for 12 with an untested oven? The online reviews are what you would expect them to be. He never reads them. He didn't pay for fitting (it has to be hard wired) so goodness knows how I am going to cook with it :-( He's working every day including Christmas eve which is my next day off. I have better things to do than wait for an electrician to come round.
I need to wrap the last few pressies. Well done Mummy Roys I wish I was fininshed! I also need to think about what I'm taking to my SIL's on boxing day.
Enjoy your works do Dusty!0 -
Mumto5 I sympathise. I spent yesterday at DD2's house awaiting delivery and installation of her new cooker.
Despite having had an electrician check the kitchen - and he was told that an electric cooker was part of the plan - the delivery men couldn't install it because there wasn't enough wiring present.
DD2 is beyond gutted. Her OH is furious. Fingers crossed it is sorted soon. On the plus side DS and OH delivered her fridge freezer last night. So she can buy a wider range of food and I can get to my drier in the garage.
After the fridge delivery DD2 and I went shopping. About half way there I realised how tired I was. By the time I got home I was past it and had a really early night. I feel much better today.:jFlylady and proud of it:j0 -
Morning all.
Why is this time of year such a testing time? Gah.
I popped to @ldi for some bits for the weekend and found ski mitts for all 3 of us!!! I'd been wanting mitts rather than gloves and they appear just in time! All the others I've seen were for tiny children. So today I'm going to pack our lapland case
Also got a few restive bits, mince pies, mulled wine, pate and a couple of tiny cheese truckles. I've gone for mini versions as they never get finished otherwise.
Popped to the big shopping centre on the way home, has a massive debenhams where I usually buy my mums favourite soap. They had a tidy cardboard stand with only gift sets this year. Will have a look online - I may have left it too late
So shopping unpacked, and I'm just sitting down to a cuppa, but I'm wanting a productive day today...
Kiddies have taken gifts and xmas jumpers to school, so that's a pile gone from the hallway table, and we've no concerts or shows today. At 3.45 I shall be locking my door and shutting out the world. We might have a onesie night. Well, I don't have one but you know what I mean
Right. I'll do a virtual soap search!Bossymoo

All DD's gifts are wrapped & away in my room. She finishes school in an hour so I'm going to make myself something to eat, sit back and chill until she gets in as I'm hungry, tired and starting to get a headache.
I have no idea what's got into the dog, but he's literally bouncing around the livingroom like a puppy wanting to play, slobber and toys are flying everywhere :rotfl:
Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0 -
Well my kitchen is sparkling (for how long?) and I've just spent a satisfying half hour with the tv times and programming my TiVo box
Had leftover baked potato for lunch and just made another brew. DR and LR in good shape too and I've de-glittered the place
Oh, if you ever needed to know, oil is good at getting a mass of glitter out of curly hair. I used cocoa butter oil and a nit comb. I made a bit of a performance of it to try discourage her from tipping a whole tube on her head in future... <rollseyes>
I even know what we're having for dinner! I could get used the this at-home mum malarkeybut I'd have to stop spending
I might do half hour in the garage, then have an hour to myself as once they finish school, that's us for 16 days with no peace and quietBossymoo

I had such high hopes for today but not working out. Dropped S at school and went for a walk with my friend and our dogs. All going great but then Whiz, bless him, managed to firstly roll in disgustingly stinky fox poo and then he cut himself somehow - I think it was when he was going 'off piste' looking for squirrels and the like. So we got back, I bathed the cut to see what I thought and yes, it looks like he needs to see the vet but can't get an appointment til 5.20 tonight. Can't turn up with a stinky dog so bathed him. Then been looking online for a lightweight coat he can wear to protect himself. Next thing I knew it's lunch time and had a succession of phone calls.
I do need to clean the bathroom especially bearing in mind what I washed out of the dog and also to get S's presents out of the loft for his birthday tomorrow but a big part of screaming at me to have a nap on the sofa with Whiz as I'm really tired. Also it'll be my last child free day til 5th Jan (Z on inset 4th Jan). Might just set my alarm for an hour and snooze!Flymarkeeteer: £168 and counting0 -

Oh dear mumof2 how stinky <yuck>
Well I've been trying to pack all our things into one carry on case and it ain't happening! Ski mitts and all the layers take up room! They will be too hot while travelling to wear them, the advice is light clothes for travelling then pile on the layers once there. Also to take 3 lots of gloves for littlies to allow for some getting wet. Doesn't sound much but 6prs of padded gloves takes up quite a bit of space! Plus 2 pairs for me!
I wanted to save my rucksack for some snacks for on the plane, and they will need some puzzle books and pens. Plus pj's for the way home
I might have to take 2 carry-ons and a ruscksack - I could put return stuff in one in case the airline ask us to check one in. More space to stash our coats and shoes once we get to Lapland too (they provide thermal suits and boots).
I'm all in a muddle now!
Better go get the small people, with my list of everything that needs to come home from school today :eek:Bossymoo

Also the little dog staying with me for the next fortnight is quite high maintenance - he's a Parson's Russell, 15 years old, with Addison's disease. So if any dog-lovers can spare a few stay-well vibes for Jack, they'd be appreciated.
Bucketloads of *stay well vibes* heading up country your way, LW.
Natty, ditto what everyone else has said. Go to bed and stay there, please. Whatever your OH's family has for Christmas lunch is what they can cook; beans on toast is a perfectly nutritious meal and they can laugh about it in years to come even if they have a sense of humour failure on the day. Your health comes first.
Piggers, you asked a question about whether you came across as aggressive. No, you don't, but you come across as assertive, and when women say things the hearer doesn't like - they say we're aggressive. (I imagine you're sounding pretty aggresive after CF's letters and that's totally appropriate in the circumstances.)
(((Hugs))) for all Flyladies struggling with Christmas arrangements, what with carp cookers, cookers not being wired in, dogs peeing on presents as their contribution to the festivities (Kelpie would so do this!) and over-tired kids.
Kitchen floor sparkly, freezer stockchecked so I can meal plan for the next few weeks around the leftover turkey meals, etc etc etc.Better is good enough.0 -
Oh dear, I'm waaaay behind on my list.
- 1 load washing on
- gym class attended and Xmas coffee with gym friends
- foliage cut for wreaths
- been to library
- walked round small local town hoping to get a couple of things and a card for Mr N but couldn't find what I wanted.
- went to Tesc0 and got reduced flowers for arrangements, plus the 'essential' 2 things that were on the list (mulled wine and mince for Sun).
So now I'm about to get myself some 'lunch'. Must not panic. At least I came home to message from vicar asking if I'd read my favourite Christmas reading at the carol service on Sun.
Happy and calm vibes to all. Pigpen it's beyond words but I hope some calm vibes work for you and your poor children.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.0
