I notice a lot of places now have the baby change in the gents, I assume because having it in the ladies is "sexist", however it's OK to have parking spaces showing mother+child.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

My parents went shopping at a Sainsburys store but all the disabled spaces were full. They did wait a few minutes but nobody came back, so they parked in a parent and child space.
As my Mam got out of the car, another car pulled into the space next to her. The lady got out and abruptly asked my Mam where her child was. My Mam pointed to all the full disabled spaces and said she had to park here as they need the extra room. The lady then became abusive and screamed obscenities at my Mam for parking there without a child leaving my Mam very shaken up and my Dad upset as he was still in the car and felt helpless.
Just wondering for future reference, can they park in parent and child spaces if all the disabled ones are full?
she replied, i have, there at home and walked off in the store“Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.”

thinking about it...she was right. it does not say you have to bring them ..anyway kids need exercise these days ..the car spaces should be the furthest.

What a load of pampered special snowflakes there on on this thread. "How on EARTH am I supposed to get the baby seat in the back with SUCH a tiny space between me and the next car???" And "have you ever tried to juggle shopping and children and baby carriers?" Oh woe is me. I MUST have my child space. I mean, what if little junior or junioress get a teeny bit of a raindrop on their iccle face?
Get over yourselves seriously! Dear God first world problems!
And re; the answer to the OP; yes you CAN park in a child space with a blue badge, AND without a blue badge. I do it sometimes just to ruffle the feathers of the ranty young parents who seem to think that having a sprog means they should have all kinds of special treatment.
Like the story in the OP, someone close to me was screamed at by a fat thug in a mondeo for having the temerity to park in a baby space because there were no disabled spaces. He yelled abuse at her and threatened her and called her some nasty names. This woman I know has a painful chronic illness, she is in her 60s, and she was alone. I am sure the fat thug felt good about himself as he slammed his fist on her car and got up in her face and called her a four letter word beginning with C.
She was so shaken that she wouldn't go out alone for a year.
So I love to hog child spaces now. Gives me great pleasure. Maybe the fat thug will confront me next.
Dear God I hope so. :dance:You didn't, did you? :rotfl::rotfl:0 -

since this thread started I have paid a lot more attention in Morrisons car park. There seem to be an awful lot of mainly fat women using the P&C spaces whilst not having kids with them.
They do have an empty child seat though. Kinda reinforces the idea that it encourages selfish behaviour.0 -
There are plenty of narrower vehicles that have 3.5t towing limits.
It's a big car, yes, but it's still a car & car park spaces should be able to accommodate all cars.
People with big cars still need shopping.
The problem is cars have got bigger - look at minis!!!!!
Spaces seem to have got smaller.
Now all kids have car seats, I had one for my child in the 80s but most people didn't.
It is difficult to get the babies/kids strapped in if you can't get the door open, impossible if it's a tiny tot car seat & it comes in & out instead of the baby.
The easy answer, put the p&c spaces the furthest from the shop door, it's a win win :-)0 -

Couple year ago there was a disabled chap who parked in the entrance to my street, just around a blind bend. It was winter, the road was icy and where he parked made his car VERY hard to avoid, from my house I watched several cars turn that bend and nearly hit his car.......
I went out and put a strongly worded note on his windscreen, with a map diagram showing the corner, the ice and a car labelled stupid ****.
In this case I hope he does avoid going out for a year......
I don't care if someone is disabled, it's not an excuse to drive, park or simply behave like an idiot.
Plenty of disabled people manage to live no differently to the rest of us (or at least TRY) and I have all respect for them, but some seem to see it as an excuse to be lazy and inconsiderate.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
