glad he was victorious anyway.
I've had a few roller coaster days, physically and emotionally. The treatment I'm having is sometimes unkind to me and that has a knock on effect on the people around me. We get there though and I'm looking forward to Christmas. Houseguests grandparents and brother and sister are coming for the duration, OH best friend is also joining us and my elderly neighbour is coming for dinner. there might be added girlfriend/boyfriends to be confirmed yet. But the house will be fulljust how I like it.
I've been shopping but am not fully getting into all the coupons and savings that are around. I'm still managing to do ok with cond. spends and ordering half price stuff from Ts
I have some amazing friends that I met on here that keep me going for laughs, practical advice, support and just general ears. Brilliant all of them. So thank you :A
Someone asked me today what I was getting and I said a houseful - well not as big a houseful as FC is having - I think ideally you need to have every bed full and I have 2 spares but that can't be helped.
I am very glad your elderly neighbour has survived another year to enjoy a family dinner with you
Is your OG chief chef as usual? Do you have a sous chef to peel the veggies?
In our house OH is master of ceremonies and eldest child does the veg peeling and I just try and keep order out if the kitchen chaos
When the kids were younger we had exchange students every other summer so there was 4 or 5 teens here for 2 weeks - I was ready to throttle all of them especially my own by the end if 2 weeks but it was still very good fun looking back, having the house full and doing industrial catering“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -
I see the debate has wondered off from pasta bake to the intricacies of trifle now - I will wade in later with my version.
In our house it is legal to eat trifle for breakfast on the 2nd day
Why is everyone making custard or even worse using Birds custard?
I've always used fresh custard in a tub, just dollop it in. It was only 89p in Aldi today but they only had one tub left with the wrong date so I've got to try another day
Using fresh custard is one of those allowable short cuts like ready made puff pastry - why make life hard for yourself“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. My mother in law made quite an alcholic sherry trifle.
On the minus side though she used those vile hard silver balls on the top to decorate, no good for teeth, you had to avoid biting down on them.
So not a very child friendly trifle“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -

Not good with old-style metal fillings, as I recall. I was convinced they had a magnetic effect as they certainly caused a twinge! :rotfl:“All shall be well, and all shall be well and all manner of thing shall be well.”0 -
I make a Black Forest trifle, choc swiss roll, black cherries, black cherry jelly, choc Angel delight, cream, more cherries & choc buttons on the top (sherry at the swiss roll stage if desired)
Only make it a Christmas, and last year OH slipped on the ice and smashed the lot, bowl included. We ended up trying to rescue it by putting it through a sieve, but it became like Russian roulette:eek::eek::eek: avoiding the glass, so sadly it ended up in the bin!!essex girl in exile0 -

Now I have to make a trifle ( with jelly ) as you have all tempted me. Especially as you are allowed to eat it for Breakfast and there will only be me at home Boxing Day morning so no one will know!!! Talking about Pasta I have been making slow cooker Veggie Lasagna for my DD and its a great hit. You just layer Barille sauce of your choice, mozzarella and chopped veg of your choice ( I use courgette, pepper and aubergine ) and pasta sheets. Top with grated cheese and sliced tomatoes. Cook four hours on High and from time to time press it down so pasta sheets stay under sauce. Smells delicious and tastes it too. Will post pics later0 -

Oh wow, that sounds delicious - minus the glass though of course :rotfl:

I went to asda earlier in the hope of getting the last few bits I wanted. It was raining and too windy for my umbrella. MG has taken his car to work so I used the bus.
Asda had NOTHING I wanted. Not one item off my list  bear in mind it's meant to be the second largest A in the country! (Where is the biggest then?!) for the first time in a very very long time I ended up just leaving my still empty trolley and walking out.
Ahat a waste of £2.50 bus fare and two hours of my life  :rotfl: :mad:I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Health & Beauty, Greenfingered Moneysaving and How Much Have You Saved boards.
