No, i don't think so - I have made it with and without jelly (prefer it without), but the results are often more like trifle soup than traditional trifle
How can you have trifle without jelly?!:)
The layers should always be well set before putting the next one on otherwise it goes all sloppy and yukkyI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Health & Beauty, Greenfingered Moneysaving and How Much Have You Saved boards. I use 2 jellies instead of one but not double the water.
I make birds custard with twice as much powder.
I like to cut my trifles with a knife :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -
Had online A vouchers to use up by Thursday, so went to order a C&C this morning, for this afternoon and there were no slots till tomorrow. So saved a spot and did my shopping. By the time I went back to check out my slot had gone, so went to do another one and they had all gone for tomorrow and Wednesday and nothing showing for Thursday. So major panic. Clicked for availability at another store and luckily there is one for tomorrow morning and nabbed it quick even though the plug ins I was going to order at another store are not available at this store.
So just warning you all that if you want a c&c between now and Thursday, better get an order quick before all the slots disappear.0 -

Thanks PD Ts express would have been my next port if call but found some while in town in Wilko. Sainsbobs only had one left , M & S had loads but £2 for a tiny net even the 342 didn't make it look a bargain. :eek:0 -
Been beer 'n gardening today, I have a load of leaves & fallen fruit to pick up so I pay my eldest son in Coke to help with the raking (& he did some lawnmowing) - & I get half a Dad's 'Coke' every 5 barrowloads0

Just had a quick google and looks like the jelly /no jelly debate can get quite heated!0 -
Afternoon all
Absolutely pouring down  just as I need to go out and collect my new phone from the courier, typical.
Don't care though, I'm :j at finally getting a new phone.
Got a shopping list planned for later as well to take advantage of cashback offers and the dairy coupon. Total should be £60 down to £40 with BG then £8 CS and the £3 dairy moc and £14.49 cashback. So should be paying £15.24. Will post up the results later...those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind.

Agree with qoc, make your jelly on the firm side, how do you make your custard?, I use half milk and half evaporated milk to make nice firm custardThe person who never makes a mistake never learns anything.0 -

Everyone does it differently. I did one of mine for my brother wedding in the summer and now there isn't a supermarket in a five mile radius that has blancmange in stock :mad:I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Health & Beauty, Greenfingered Moneysaving and How Much Have You Saved boards.
