Using mobile in USA

I've never stated the Mhz - again, you keep making assumptions. I've simply stated they have limited LTE spectrum on which to create a successful network. When they manage to provide LTE outside of major cities, let me know.
Currently, with the sole exception of EE, the state of mobile affairs in the UK is laughable.
you reallly are looking stupid, by the way, hello, I'm here to let you know.
Now you might want to go and look at Voda's spectrum allocation and current 4G coverage, it's been more than just cities for quite some time.
You do make me laugh with your strange ideas, so I do hope you carry on...====0 -
Ok. Just stay away from the US then, and chill in your own country that does not have all these bad things.
I'm going to the US (again) in a few months.
Slightly annoyed the Brexit loons have caused the $1.30 exchange rate but otherwise looking forward to it.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Presumably if you use one of the apps to forward your text, it needs to be on? So you can't just remove the sim leaving it sat in your bedside drawer til you get home.0

Anyone else smelling a spam post coming up? Or am I just getting cynical?0 -
I need a sim card to use only in USA (USA to USA only calls, text and data). Can I buy one in UK and activate it to start using the moment I land in USA? I do not want the 3 Feel at home option.0

You can buy them from Ebay and have them shipped from the US. I've never seen anyone in the UK selling them.
I doubt you can activate them here as they would need to have roaming active to be able to connect to their US servers. And most payg sims from the US don't have roaming set on as default.
You'd need to have the sim in the phone when you land and then active it and top it up.0 -
Yes. You can certainly activate both AT&T and Tmobile sims online and they will show your allocated US number. They will also send a txt to the sim. Tmobile payg roam out of the box. Expensive to use in the UK though.

Any sim with enabled roaming, but the phone has to have the frequencies used over there.
The US has switched off 2G - you'll need 3G 850/1700/1900 MHz ideally. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Not totally accurate. Only AT&T has turned off 2G. T-Mobile, and all the MVNO's that use TMobile's network of course, still have 2G..at least for now. 😁😁
Most people have a 3G/4G(LTE) capable phone that days anyway.The US has switched off 2G - you'll need 3G 850/1700/1900 MHz ideally.0
