Really don't want to be banned.
If you don't want to be banned don't drive at stupid speeds. It's really very simple.
Before anyone calls me out or says "but everyone does it" please note both my car and my motorbike are capable of speeds in excess of 100mph BUT I choose not to travel at those speeds because I know it's dangerous both to myself and others. I have no sympathy for those who do.0 -
Manoeuvre
Please set your spell check to UK English.....0 -
Did you really tell a policeman you didn't know what speed you were doing?
that wont go down well..0 -
Not as all, It was a momentary lapse and didn't realise I had picked up to that speed and promptly slowed again once traffic was passed. At the same time I noticed he'd come up close behind me and pulled over to allow him to pass. My eyes were not glued to my speed dial, I was watching the road and who was around me. I'm not trying to make an excuse and I did state that I acknowledge it was stupid of me and should have been more mindful. I was looking for some advice not a flaming over it. Rightly the PO gave me a bollocking in their car and I apologised as much as I could. Thank you all for your input. I shall see what happends now0

Well bully for you!
I wonder why this forum constantly attracts people with this smug, self-righteous attitude? It's clearly a magnet for those who just love rubbing the noses of others in the proverbial.0 -
Sorry for wrong place.... I wouldn't say I was driving dangerously, even the PO said that. I just pushed on too much for a short stretch of road. I actually assumed he wanted to pass and pulled over to the left asap, just didn't realise it was a police car. He was following up quite closely so I got out of the way. He just stayed behind me though, obviously. I clicked that it was strange at the time but didn't think anymore of it because I was close to the speed of the road at that time. I guess I will have to wait and see. I actually have a completely clean license at the moment though. I just know I was somewhere above 100mph but I doubt by a silly amount.
Ummm you seem to be saying that up to 100 is ok but as long as you don't exceed 100 by too much its ok?
Sorry but you deserve all you get. Appreciate that the current limit of 70 is perhaps a little low these days but going over 100 is not something you do accidentally. Its 30 mph OVER the speed limit.
In fact, I'd like to see an automatic ban - no excuses - for anyone caught doing over 100. Its endangers lives.
If you don't have the mental capacity to drive properly, pay attention to the road AND your speed then you shouldnt be driving. If you'd got done for 80mph then fair enough, its easily done but you can tell without looking at the speedo that your car is going way over 70mph.0 -

"Yes sir, I appreciate you don't want to incriminate yourself but you know very well you were doing 90+ back there and not just 'may have been over the limit'. We have you on tape so now you're screwed "
That is not actually going to go any worse than telling them what you think you were doing. You're not going to get a pat on the back for saying "well my speedo showed me going 98mph which having checked it against my GPS satnav in the past, I know to be about 95. Sorry"
"Yes sir you know that's very illegal and thanks for admitting it, although we do also have you on tape, so you're screwed"0 -
I suspect the OP was driving an M3 at the time, so he should be OK :rotfl:0
