Yay I'm back.................did you miss me :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
I have so much to tell you all........................but first the film...........................Independence Day, when Russell Casse flies himself and the last bomb into the alien ship..............1996 Frayed didn't think it was that old :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
I haven't posted because I had so much to say and I have been sooooooo busy, the down side was I missed all this and the up side it gave me time to evaluate and access everything, mainly where I go wrong.
The holiday.................fabulous scenery, grumpy OH, poorly dog. All in all it was good because I found something that could be life changing...........................more later.
On the monday of our hols DD got a job, not the type she wanted but a reasonable paying one, so next month see no help from me (had to this month as she only got 8 days pay last months) We have spoken now the pressure is off and she did realise that she was taking any spare we had and is determined to budget just right so she doesn't need our helpwe shall see.
OH, oh boy so many ups and downs, he took 9 of the 14 days holiday to de-stress and was snipping for most of that, we then had 3 good days then he reverted to sniping again. Trouble is he then gets nasty if I keep saying anything. The other weekend I broke, completely, we went out on the saturday and he was vile, rallied in the afternoon and was vile again on the sunday morning, by lunch I just lost it and told him about how they had all let me down and how feeling worthless was because none of them ever considered me. This was a rare occasion he actually listened, he has been ok since but keeps referring to "our" arguments, unlike before I have corrected this every time................so lets hope. I have talked him into taking the van out again in July, I hope that has made a difference to how he feels.
The life changing bit, when we go on holiday we walk a lot, about 5-7 miles a day and whilst on holiday I came across a faceache group where they aim to walk 1000 miles this year, it is run by the Country Walking editor, so I joined and am on 110 miles so far........................they spurred me on and we attempted to climb our first Munro, we nearly got to An Cabar ridge on Ben Wyvis but weather and ill equipped clothes stopped us, but hey another day another go. When we came back I have had to moderate my walking as my knees are not yet upto the challenge but that will improve with time.
Financial news..................well been helping DD, as mentioned. I realised that before Xmas when I needed to clear some very overdue bills I could do it by concentrating on one at a time. I am constantly in overdraft so the plan is to eliminate that by 1st July, I am on target and have reduced it from £700 to £500 in the last two weeks. This will give me a very small emergency, at the beginning of this journey I was advised to have an emergency by a very right MSE'r and I remember saying I have never had one and always managed, I WAS SO WRONG, thank you who ever it was that gave that advice................YOU ARE SO RIGHT.
If you are starting your journey or trying to like me, it pays in more ways than cash to have that funds, way above overpaying your mortgage, it takes longer to recover from an emergency than it does to recoup the cash you take from your emergency fund.
I have started a bullet journal..............for those that don't know what one is, google it, it's fabulous.............it is far easier to do than you think. I have all my to do's etc in one place but more importantly I have sections on projects with to research, to buy and to do lists. This is enabling me to plan my purchases in a controlled way, rather than a haphazard event. If I see a bargain it is easy to check if it's a list item..................the benefits are immense.
As for my mortgage free journey, it is only just beginning, it maybe slow just know as I need to get my ducks in place but I am more positive than I have ever been for many years, so can't be all bad :T:T:T
Bye for now............................:EasterBunDebt Free Diary - Second Chances! Life in a Tourer........Debt free, building a savings pot0 -
I've just spent the last two nights reading your diary from the start, and just finished the last 10 pages now.
Wow! You've had some tough times over the years, and plenty of challenges more recently what with DD, OH and work as well as the usual car/pet/house issues! I started my own diary the other week (which I need to update myself once I've posted here) and have been reading a few to get some inspiration, motivation and ideas...I certainly found it here. I've chuckled, had tears prickling my eyes and rolling down my cheeks, I've ooh-ed and ahh-ed reading your diary. If I had a hat I'd take it off to you Sue.
We very luckily have no debt (I try not to class the mortgage as a debt, more as an essential thing lots of people have to have!) and but there are 2 DDs so I totally get the wanting to look out for/protect/help you give your DD (mine are only 8 and 11 so fortunately haven't had to deal with money or job issues yet phew - plenty of time yet for that though hehe)
I'm a Lincolnshire girl too, Lincoln itself actually, so if you give me a heads up on any up-coming local fairs you'll be at I'll try and pop over if I'm free to say hello and admire your bears
Hope you have a fab holiday, sounds like it's just what you need. Will save all the other things that have been running through my head about your diary for when you're back from your hols otherwise this could turn into a mammoth post! I will add though that your work colleague sounds an absolute 'idiot' for want of a better word. I tend to find when I've had someone similar in my life that it's usually down to jealousy or covering up their own uselessness or inability to do the job right!
If I ever feel like the whole OP is too much of a faff or not worth it, or I'm losing my mojo I'll pop over here, have a read and give myself a strong talking to, because if you can do with this with everything that's been thrown at you then I can bl00dy well do it too!!
Hope you have a fab holiday, sounds like it's just what you needxx
Hiya....................you go for it, just remember it's a marathon not a sprint x
