How to add halifax credit card to online banking

Ive activated it but i cant find anywhere to add it to my online banking.
Ive got a mortgage with them but no bank account. The only option i can see is to create a totally new account just for the card.
Must be an option to add it ?

How long ago did you activate it?

I have a current account with Halifax and when I took out a credit card with them it just appeared in online banking immediately; I didn't have to add it. You might have to ring them.

So to add to the OP question: if I don't have an account with them at all, then take out a Credit Card (just a CC), I have to set up online banking for the card only?

I have a Lloyds card account with online banking. Seen as they're the same company, can I add the Halifax card to my Lloyds online account?

You would set up online banking with your own bank surely? You need to ask Halifax for the sort code, account number and reference they want you to use.

Yes, if you want to view it online.

No, you can't see Halifax on Lloyds, although I know of someone viewing BOS on Halifax, so it only shares within HBOS.

Well I think I know why.
I've got a double barreled name and on my mortgage they've put a hyphen between the last two names but not on my credit card.
Worried they might say the mortgage is now incorrect.
Didn't think it would make any difference.

Don't worry - give them a ring and explain that to them and they'll be able to sort it out for you. I'm sure they would have come across this before.

  • Yeah I've spoke to them and they are going to merge the accounts which is a relief.
Can I just ask how it works with the 0% period.
This card is 0% balance transfer for 20 months but only 6 months for purchases.
I've set it up to pay it off in 12 months but what happens if I make a purchase? Do they only charge me interest after 6 months on the amount I've purchased and not the remaining balance?

Whatever purchases balance you have remaining on the date which is 6 months after account opening will start to incur interest. It may be possible to minimise (even eliminate?) it by good timing of an additional payment.

That said, it's advisable not to mix purchases and BTs on the same card. If you need to make a purchase requiring more time to pay, try and get another 0% on purchases card.
  • Yeah I'm not planning on using it it's just in case but thanks for that.
