I managed a NSD yesterday, and we had boiled potatoes, pork chops, and a sort of ratatouille made from a few spring onions, and frozen courgettes and peppers I'd frozen on Christmas Eve when I went away, and used a carton of tomatoes with chilli peppers from my case full I had in my last AF delivery.
I am low on milk so I got out a couple of little milk cartons to defrost in the fridge over night.
Hoping to make do and not give in to kiddy pester power for the next two days. ( she wants crisps with lunches and we haven't any- but will need some by return to school- but that's not till Tuesday, so I will shop Monday, which will be my first day of the new week and I will be able to withdraw my £25.00
I'm hoping to put my left over money from this week into a jar for future weeks when we start to run the freezer and stores down.
When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.
  • Had to buy some more washing powder/dish washing liquid and bits and bobs for dinners that I've planned out. Another £31.75 spent (still need to go to butchers and get dog food) but I've portioned up yesterdays dinner for lunches/dinners and we really did have no food in the house at all!

    Over all: £63.63/£190
    February Grocery Budget: £190.75/£350.00

Hi all, forgot to add the duck I bought reduced after Christmas to eat yesterday and a punnet of grapes I picked up yesterday to eat when we were out for the day.

£14.45 spent so far this month - mostly for NYE and NYD bits and pieces to eat and drink. We have food in the fridge/freezer for today so fingers crossed a NSD grocery wise!
    Savings target: £25000/£25000

Hi there, I had my first tesco delivery this morning. I normally spend £100+ on it but todays one only came to £54.51. I have meal planned lunches and dinners and I am using up a bit of store cupboard stuff. Anyway, I am really pleased and the fridge looks as full as usual. My new total this week so far is £57.05.
  • Made two wholemeal loaves yesterday and a white in the BM as I write. I'm going to use up the flour I have already in the cupboard before I buy anymore. I forgot to pay the milkman last month so that has to go from this month's budget
Today's job is to do an inventory of what is in the freezer and the cupboards, menu plan and then shop.

    Good morning all! :)

Set to be another NSD here today! There's nothing we need :)

Just having veggie pizza and garlic bread from the freezer for dinner this evening... I have some leftover HM veg soup from yesterday for the boys to have for lunch and some leftovers of last night's dinner (vegetable bake) for myself :)

Small victory today as DH is in work from lunch time to dinner time and was going to grab something from work on his afternoon break... he works for a national bakery chain and does get 50% discount, but I have managed to convince him to take something from home instead! :D

  • Still no spend on food here since my last post. We were given a £20 M&S voucher for Christmas which we are going to use up buying a few of their ready meals which will make next week nice and easy as OH is backshift.

Today's dinner is left over chicken curry from the slow cooker.

First proper shop of the January budget at sainsburys using a £6 off £30 voucher. At the checkout it came to £29.98 - arrgghhh!!!!!- so much to the annoyance of the man behind me I ran to grab a pack of tampons to push it over £30 :)
    So total spend was £24.73.
I did use a list and bought a few bits for the store cupboard and freezer and £4.50 worth of toiletries (deodorant, baby wipes and toothpaste). Meal plan done for the week - feeling quite pleased with myself as the weekly budget is £40 :):)
