Currys UKPC Charge

Hi Everyone.
My car picked up a ticket over the Black Friday weekend at a Currys store for not parking in a marked bay. There was an obstruction across four of five parking bays blocking about half of each bay, so the car was parked on the "ends' of two bays. The car park was full but the car was parked against the rules although not inconsiderately.
I have emailed Currys customer service but have only received the automated response to say they have received the message. Is there any mileage in this or is it worth writing to Sebastian James, the CEO (if that is still the man) or am I better off waiting for the NTK letter? I do fear I will be liable for the £100 full fee if I delay over the 14 days.
I have the receipt for the purchases made during the visit which I emailed to Currys along with the 'charge notice'
Any help is greatly appreciated.

You won't be liable so don't think of paying.
Definitely complain to the CEO, and go back to the branch if you can and complain to manager there.0 -
Thanks Herzlos. I did speak to one of the managers at the store but he just said they have no control over the parking as UKPC are employed by the land owner. I will email him as I have found his address to be sebastian.james@dixonscarphonegroup.com Should the email be one of outrage or politely asking for assistance?
Thanks again.0 -

Sebastian James is the CEO. I have always found that Curry's customer service is well below par, others say ...

To find his direct email address search on google " ceo of curry's" and you can see his email address.
You must make this a very serious complaint to him, enclosing your receipt. It is also worth pointing out to him that UKPC were recently banned by the DVLA for issuing false tickets.
Ask him why he or the retail park employ such companies who attempt to extort money from people.0 -

Ask for the contact details for the landowner and complain to them too.
Make it clear you were a genuine customer who is being scammed by an unscrupulous parking company (they've just been unbanned from DVLA access) and unlikely to return to the store in question (or the rest of the retail group!) if they don't do something about it.
You should also appeal to UKPC (some recommend waiting until about day 27 from the screen ticket, some recommend waiting for something in the post) and make one of your points "Frustration of contract. Because they didn't manage the parking correctly and another vehicle was incorrectly parked, the driver had to park in a technically-incorrect-but-curteous way." Do not name the driver.0 -

Never bother with Customer Services, go straight to the top.
Outrage tends to easily become ranting. Polite but unmistakeable indignation is the tone to aim for.
Maybe Currys don't own the car park but they can certainly moan at their landlord and point out that the negative effect UKPC is having on their business will be taken into account next time the rent is up for negotiation.
I once saw someone storm into a branch of Go Outdoors in a multiple-occupancy retail park brandishing a UKPC ticket. The manager was called and immediately promised he would get it cancelled, so it can be done despite what your Currys manager said to fob you off.Je suis Charlie.0 -
And threaten to take the 75" UHD OLED curved screen that you've just paid 6 grand for back for a refund.

Thanks everyone. I fired off an email to Sebastian, one of measured incredulity, also pointing out the negative local press coverage and the unscrupulous nature of UKPC and my wish to never visit this or any other store in the group ever again.
I'll wait and see.0 -

Well done, if everyone did this, it could well make changes:T:T0 -
Customer Services called and said they couldn't help. No surprise there.
BUT, I received an email from a gmail address pretending to be an official email from the store manager at Currys telling me I should pay the 'fine' and Currys would reimburse me by cheque. They would of course need my address to send me the cheque.
Unbelievable.0
