Customer Services called and said they couldn't help. No surprise there.

BUT, I received an email from a gmail address pretending to be an official email from the store manager at Currys telling me I should pay the 'fine' and Currys would reimburse me by cheque. They would of course need my address to send me the cheque.

    Unbelievable.

How very odd. Best to copy the email to the CEO for his official confirmation. Might raise a few eyebrows in Currys management.

Could customer services be in the hands of UKPC ??
  • CEO copied in who has responded to say it looks fishy and he will follow up. He is more concerned about that as he doesn't see much hope in getting the ticket cancelled. If the email is legitimate, great for me but it means UKPC get paid and that irks me.

You must consider how you got that email ?

Think about who else knows that you emailed Curry's about this ???
Is it just Curry's who know this

You can quickly find out more from the email by looking at the source of it. This shows a lot of script and at the top it will show the IP address, a series of numbers. You are looking for Received from
You can type into google " search for ip address location" and paste in the IP number for the location it comes from. Might well give you some idea.

As an example, just got a spam email and doing the above showed it came from Berlin, Germany plus lots of info
  • It turns out it is a legitimate message. The chap emailed me from home but didn't have access to the corporate mail system. He has emailed again from the corporate system repeating the offer. A result then.

Well Yes, so if that is the case, his CEO should agree as well, not fob you off.

But, did you give the store manager your email address ? Store managers do not have the authority to issue cheques and cannot, they will only come from Head Office

not really , that is just putting £60 odd quid in there coffers and will pay for more harassment letters to be posted

I asked above WHO owns the car park?

this is not about getting currys to pay you back it about getting currys to fight the !!!!!!!s and let them know who hires who!

  • Dilemna. Do I take the offer and hope the assistant manager is good for it. This means paying UKPC and handing over the receipt to him and he will then "pass to the accounts dept to process immediately" or, stuff them, appeal and pay nothing.
