New Car With Scratches
I've ordered up a new car and after waiting several weeks for a factory order went in to pick it up from the local franchised dealer.
On being show around the car, I came across a couple of small scratches. The dealer has no idea.
I usually buy cars outright and keep for many years. My last one did not arrive with any scratches.
As you can imagine I was not best pleased.
The dealer was very apologetic and offered to sort out the scratches.
The dealer did say that on the odd occasion new cars arrive from the factory with a few marks (caused during transit) but they usually get sorted out before the customer sees any damage.
I was offered a of compensation with a few carrots but I was so annoyed that I left and said I'd contact them when I've calmed down.
Just wondering has anyone else had these problems in the past?
I know that potentially the next time I park up the car I'm going to get a few marks from other road users bashing car doors.
Just wondering what by options are?
Trying to decide what to do?

Just let the dealer sort the scratches as there's no guarentee another car won't arrive in the same condition or worse.0

New cars get damaged in transit and fixed (as you have been told) before the customer ever sees the car.
Yours have been missed - were they hard to spot?
Not worth getting blood pressure over0 -
As above you maybe shocked to see the state of some brand new cars. There will be new cars out there with filler and overspray on them. Most owners would not notice.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

The light was beginning to fade at the time, but one of the scratches was close to the petrol filler cap.
Once I noticed the first scratch I started to look harder and noticed a second but smaller scratch.0 -
So let the dealer sort them. He should have done it before you took delivery, and you'd never have known. Oh, well. We all make mistakes.0

This is what I would do!.
Go back have a look around the parts and accessories display and go in and say "ive thought about this, and I i'm willing to have them repaired to a as new standard, BUT as you let standards of quality control slip on your end, I want the (model name) keyring, some mud flaps, a (branded) "parker" type pen (If they do them), a (branded) umbrella and a First aid kit" all the cheapish stuff, and if that doesn't tickle your fance then ask for the first years servicing free and a keyring!. turn it into a plus not a negative.0 -

And they say no and you........end up with the car anyway because you paid for it and they are offering to fix it for you.0 -
It happens. The issue is why it was not picked up-what does the PDI report say? If missed then dealer is not doing the job they've been paid for.No free lunch, and no free laptop

But then you look like some kind of branded tat-collecting weirdo... and when you use your "(branded) "parker" type pen" and "(branded) umbrella" you're advertising, for free, the brand represented by the very people who delivered a crap service to you.0 -
Could possibly have been caused when they 'washed' it before handing it over. By washed I mean a man with a filthy old sponge and bucket who goes round washing all their used stock. I have no idea if they're generally barred from washing the brand new cars but I doubt it. Swirl marks here we come!0
