Component to HDMI

Ok, so if you're going with this one:
(A) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HDMI-to-RGB-Component-YPbPr-Video-R-L-Audio-Adapter-Converter-HD-TV-ZY-/281809720492?hash=item419d2b14ac:g:S9YAAOSw0HVWBm7%20%20z
You would need a component cable to connect the adapter to your TV like this:
(B) http://www.amazon.co.uk/kenable-Component-Video-Phonos-Phono/dp/B003OSUSUM/ref=sr_1_14?ie=UTF8&qid=1450732263&sr=8-14&keywords=component+rca
Plus an audio cable to connect the adapter to your home cinema system (or your TV). like this:
(C) http://www.amazon.co.uk/Genuine-Belkin-Phono-Audio-Connectors/dp/9437549435/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1450732346&sr=8-8&keywords=audio+RCA
Also I pressume you already have some HDMI cables (D)You can go directly from your laptop to the TV using a different cable if you want (VGA). You could also connect the laptop's audio directly to the home cinema if it can't output HDMI audio.

I just realised you already bought an HDMI switch box (E). SO you can use that instead of Manually changing the HDMI input, so you just need an extra HDMI cable:
Apologies if the images are too big, I have a strange monitor, to me they look normalChanging the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0 -
If you are still considering this one:
(F) http://www.amazon.co.uk/ViewHD-Component-Converter-Support-Surround-Model-VHD-H2YVs/dp/B004F9XVBC
You have the option of one of these:
(G) http://www.amazon.co.uk/Metre-Premium-Toslink-Digital-Optical/dp/B006ZCZI3G/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1450742218&sr=8-1&keywords=spdif
Or the included Phone/RCA adapter.Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0 -
I would go for the post #33 solution.
@stator - excellent diagrams btw; a picture paints...

I have HDMI cables, thank you! I think I have audio cables too, will have a look through.
Will get ordering - looking forward to getting this working! xx0 -
One other note. If you're using the red and white audio cables you will only get stereo when using the FireStick, not surround sound. You will still get surround sound from your DVDsChanging the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0

Is there any way to get surround?
It's not a huge deal, will just be happy not to be forking out for a new TV!

To get surround sound you would need a different HDMI->Component adapter. You would need one that has optical out. The more expensive one I linked earlier (F) has this option. Fibre optic cables (G) look like this:
That's what I would call the "Normal option"
You could use another adapter to get the audio signal from the HDMI cable. Something like this:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HDMI-Audio-Extractor-Splitter-to-SPDIF-RCA-Stereo-L-R-Analog-Output-Converter-ZY-/281878049781?_trksid=p2141725.m3641.l6368
Or you could also try something else, using an HDMI splitter you could take the output of your HDMI switch and split one HDMI cable to the home cinema and one HDMI cable to the Component box.
I'll post some images later if you want.Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0 -
I wonder if the laptop and Firestick could be plugged into HDMI 1 IN and HDMI 2 IN respectively on the LG HCS, then the HDMI OUT from the HCS connected to (A) the HDMI to Component converter box. That would then be connected Component video only using cable (B) to the TV.
The HDMI splitter (E) would be redundant as the source input selection would be made with the HCS remote. The audio cables (C) or (G) would also be redundant as all the audio would be routed via HDMI through the HCS.
Over to you stator for your opinion and a diagram of that.
