I'm thinking this might be useful for you:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/ViewHD-Component-Converter-Support-Surround-Model-VHD-H2YVs/dp/B004F9XVBC
It only has two HDMI inputs, so one could be your firestick, the other your home cinema.
The only thing to check is the resolution, make sure the HDMI output resolutions are compatible with the input component resolutions because the unit says it does not scale for you.
I have this thing:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B005SP6ARO?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00
Will it do the same?
If so, just need to work out the wiring!0 -
I have looked in the manuals and the OP's TV specified Component-In resolutions are:
Y Pb Pr - 480i/576i, 480p/576p, 720p/1080i and 1080p.
The OP's BD/DVD home theatre specified Component-Out resolutions are:
Y Pb Pr - 576i, 576p, 720i and 1080p.
So a connection with a cable like this:
will give full video functionality on the TV when the source is the home theatre's in-built BD/DVD player.
The detailed connections at the back of the LG home theatre unit can be seen here.
Note there is no audio out capability available to the TV other than over HDMI, so when watching BD/DVD the sound will have to be played through the home theatre speakers.
Now we come to the Firestick.
This cannot be connected to the HDMI 1/2 input of the LG home theatre. The reason for this is on page 27 of the manual:Video input from HDMI 1/2 cannot be output from component or composite.
Post #21 device almost provides a solution in that you could plug the HDMI out of your home theatre and the Firestick into that and then use the component cable to provide video conection to the TV. That device's specified component-out reolutions are:
Y Pb Pr - 480i, 480P, 576i, 576P, 720P, 1080i and 1080P, so that's fine with between the TV and the home theatre. I haven't checked for Firestick but should be fine as an HD streamer.
You would then need an audio RCA cable to connect between the converter box and the audio-in jacks on the TV. This would provide stereo audio for the Firestick through the TV's speakers but you would not be able to get Firestick audio via the home theatre speakers.

Correction - you can get the Firestick's audio from the digital/analog converter unit (post #21) to go through the LG home theatre's speakers.
You would connect the RCA audio out from the DAC box to the RCA analog audio in jacks on the back of the LG home theatre and, using the RADIO&INPUT button on the remote, select [AUX] as the input.

@Startingagainagain
How were you connecting your laptop to the LG home theatre to stream?

That's all rather amazing, thank you. I'm not confident I know what most of it means but I will have a read at the weekend when I have more time
Can I pay you to come round to my house, look at what there is and then order it for me?!
I can't test any of it at the moment as the TV's off the wall with the leads everywhere! I have been able to stream music from Spotify via the home cinema system but not films as the TV no longer recognizes the HDMI input from the HCS.
Would I be best sending back the item in post 23?
Cheers again x0 -

Depends on your answer to my question in #26.
If you are connecting your laptop via HDMI to the HCS then you should keep the 3 port HDMI switch in #23.
You could then connect the laptop HDMI, Firestick HDMI and HDMI out from the HCS into the 3 port HDMI switch in #23. The HDMI output from that would then go to the converter box in #21. However, with your 3 port switch in #23 you would no longer need the 2 ports in on the #21 converter box.
You could instead go for a single HDMI converter box like this.
You would connect the red/blue/green YPbPr component output of the converter box to the component input of the TV using a lead as shown in #24.
The red and white audio out of the converter box would connect to the red white Aux audio in on your HCS.

The above single HDMI-in converter box is £27.
I notice that Cisco001 hit the nail on the head in
#3 with the same device but way cheaper at £12.43.

OK - I finally have some toddler and work free time to look at this.
I obviously need another converter box as the one I have only has HDMI sockets.
I'll have a look at the links you've provided.
I think I need then:
1. A cable to run from the component sockets to the converter box
2. Another converter box (the one you mention for £12.43 looks good!)
3. Some audio cables
Please can you tell me exactly what to google for items 1 & 3? I'm sure this seems incredibly obvious to you!
I'm really grateful for your help, thank you!0
