thanks so much sounds very calorie laden but lovely none the less0 -
My favourite veg of all time - especially with the red stems. Sauted with garlic and butter is great, but I also like to add it to a simple tuna pasta bake. I usually fry off the stems in garlic till tender then will add in a mix of sweetcorn, olives and/or peppers and the leaves of the chard. Add in some tuna, some creme fraiche and some tomato puree (sundried tomato paste is delish too). Stir till sauce is pink, add in cooked pasta, top with lots of parmesan and bake till crisp.
So easy but a good way to work it into a different meal. You can also use chicken instead of tuna, or just leave it at the veg.0 -
I love chard!
It's like to vegs in one, as the stems and the leavers have very different taste/texture and even cooking times.
I like the leaves simply steamed for 10-15 mins, with a dash of lemon.
The stems are meaty and sweet, I like them steamed for 20 mins or so, (whole but can be cut thinly) seasoned with salt and olive oil.0 -

Treat it like any other green leaf! probably best either lightly boiled or steamed until soft and then tossed in pepper and butter (or no butter if health conscious).0

If its young then it's a good salad leaf
If you don't like it, the shred it and saute it along with leeks and garlic0 -
As a huge soup fan I'd chop it up and throw it in a lovely minestrone. With lots of cheese on top and some nice bread for dunking.
I think it would also be nice sauteed with garlic.0 -
Stir-fried (could be the same as sautee, I suppose!) with a scatter of garlic, soy sauce & sesame seeds - tasty, quick & easy!Angie - GC Jul 25: £225.85/£500 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0
