Direct debits
Would anyone be able to tell me what day the direct debit come out if the date due would fall on a Saturday?
I've got money going into my account on Friday which would make me have more than enough in my account, but if the money came out on Friday, the money going in that day wouldn't count, and I'd go over my overdraft, urgh!
If it's Monday, it's fine, but if it's Friday, I'm gonna be so angry!

That's a little bit confusing Natz ! I think I know what you mean though!
With my bank they always take it on the day or on the next possible day after.
That should mean you're OK , I think!!!!!Say it once, say it loud ~ I'm an Atheist, Anti-Royalist, Socialist, Tea-Total Veggie Frog and PROUD!:D

Most companies choose the next working day, so it should come out on the Monday.
However, if its the money is that tight, it would be worth phoning the bank and asking them to increase your overdraft limit for just a few days to cover it. Explain why. They will probably tell you not to worry, the debits won't hapen til Monday, but you will have covered your back.0 -

Right only 4 days to OH retirement and the table is strewn with all things organisational especially financial so must sign off and concentrate on what is being said.
Special thoughts to Catowen.
Congratulations to all those celebrating and gentle thoughts to all those in needTry and do a good deed every day.0 -
Dear Catowen
would you say that to a friend-"youcan still come round, but if you do we can't go out to our friends!" This woman is mega mean.
I often have same problem and the main thing is not to be nasty yourself and sink to their level. I would forgive but don't lose sight that its her rudeness that is the problem, not your likeability.earn what you can, save what you can, give what you can :hello:0 -
Catowen - Your friend either hasnt understood where you are at the moment or is a very unfeeling person:mad: Im sorry if she is someone you care about but to invite you round then take up another invititation is just rude imo
I wish I had been behind you when you were on that call.
"Are you still coming round as we have another invite?"
"Yes I am so open the wine and get the bbq on because I am your friend and at the moment I need you so get on the phone and cancel the other one"
I bet there are people on OS who live close enough to you to be able to meet up for a coffee and maybe even look after the kids for a couple of hours whilst you have some me time
Hun sorry if its harsh but can I suggest you would really benefit from some assertiveness training (start with a book maybe?) You are entitled to have a say and its time you started doing it;)
Sending you a pm:A0 -
Thanks Dannahaz and Frogga!
I might pop in there tomorrow and have a chat, see what they can do for me! I'm on the way to repairing my credit so we can borrow a little more on our mortgage to buy a house and really don't want to have to extend it for 5 years or something just to get it, so I didn't want an unauth overdraft fee on my report and trying to deal with the extra £35 fee etc.
Am catching up with the kitchen work-have the DW on and have a batch of flapjacks in the oven-they're plain ones and am going to do some with chocolate chips too. I'm also planning on making some of Twinks Hobnobs (will make a few batches of those this week I'm sure!) and some muffins/cupcakes too, and then it's onto stripping the chicken of its meat, making soup with the bones and some value veg I found in the freezer, chucking the BM on with some dough for tonights pizza, writing the weeks menu plan.... and that's just start of it!
I'll be really busy today, sorting out food, cleaning, tip, etc and then tomorrow I'll pop into town and speak to the bank, get a free Nero coffee with my stamp card and then I'll be making sure I know my way round the software I'll be using and teaching with when I start my new job next week.... I'm so excited and nervous at the same time!
Right, off to do those choc chip flapjacks....

Afternoon Everybody,
It's a REALLY long time since I posted with anything like regularity, but I've missed you all!
I'm hoping to be able to check in most days again now, so hopefully will quickly catch up with you all. But for now, hi to everyone and hope you're all doing as well as you can manage for today.
I'm sitting in our office at home doing ANYTHING rather than start the VAT return which is already just the 27 days late. Must get on with it else DH will have something to say!
DH and DD (a whole 13 months already!!) have gone for a walk in the sunshine, and i'm feeling very jealous. Even though I hate walking and normally would find a reason not to go .
Ah well, suppose I ought to at least think about starting some work.
Have a lovely afternoon.I'd rather be a could-be if I cannot be an are; because a could-be is a maybe who is reaching for a star. I'd rather be a has-been than a might-have-been, by far; for a might have-been has never been, but a has was once an are – Milton Berle0 -
Have had a quiet day went round to see my friend and sorted out her rent letter for her, had a coffee at the same time...........came back and did the ironing, made the bed and have started to get our things ready for our trip. I have a Mr T visit to do tomorrow to do our monthly shop.................and then pack up sandwiches etc, we are not leaving until around 11am Wednesday we cannot book into the travel lodge until after 3pm, so no point in us going too early. Then Thursday we are on a jolly to France for the day.
Had a little snooze on the settee after lunch, just about to go and make myself a cuppa and sort out something for OH's tea when he gets back, might do him cheese on toast.
The chaps are still working on the drive across the road, they are doing a good job, its very wide, glad its not me paying the bill!!!!!September grocery budget........trying for £80, not sure if I will make it though!!!!! I certainly did not last month, lost track of the final bill. Will do better this month honest.
