Happy Bank Holiday to everyone! Morning AMIE and all who follow – couldn’t sleep because my back was aching and I couldn’t get comfy so I’m now on my second cuppa.
CATOWEN – I hope you’re feeling a bit better this morning; what wonderful support you’ve had on here – you are definitely among good friends here.:grouphug: :grouphug:
I just love these bank holiday weekends – it’s just a shame this is the last one before Christmas – I think it gives people a bit of a breather from work and so on. The weather was beautiful yesterday; DH was out in the garden most of the day and he has also cleaned his own car with a promise to do mine today (yes, I am very spoilt – he always does mine!). I have a massive pile of ironing again – I’ve let it build up due to my bad back but DH said he will do some as well. I’m determined to get it finished today. Yesterday, I used Jamie Oliver’s wonderful barbecue marinade for some belly pork rashers and it was delicious with new potatoes and salad so that’s another recipe for my meal plan. I’m trying to build up a collection of about thirty meals that we like, so that I can rotate them on my menu plan.
I haven’t heard from DS2 and his GF since they texted to say they’d landed at the airport in Majorca but at least I know they’ve got there.
I’m flying out to France on 6th Sept - it’s the first time I’ve flown to France, we’ve always driven before but I thought I’d find out how easy it is to fly from our local airport – I certainly couldn’t face Heathrow or Gatwick! DH is going out tomorrow to work and I’m joining him on the 6th and we’re both sailing back on the 16th. It’s my birthday on the 7th (and my oldest son’s – on the same day – best birthday pressie I’ve ever had!) and we will be going out with friends to Niort Vert which is apparently like a little Venice so I’m looking forward to that. I’ll be 55   (OMG – where did all that time go?!) so DH thinks I should celebrate it in style. He’s still very young at 50!
Anyway, off to have a wander round the garden – it looks lovely at the moment; I think I’ll pick some more blackberries later and have a go at freezing them and I’ll probably make an apple and blackberry crumble as well because DS1 has given me loads of apples from his garden.
Anyway, hope everyone has a brilliant day. I will try and catch up with the threads I have missed. I know we have some newbies so I’ll say WELCOME to you all and send (((hugs))) to everyone, whether they need them or not.

Goodmorning Amie & Moiliere & all to follow,
The sun is shining brightly here. Our yard is slowly drying out so that's good. DH back at work today. The site is no longer a swimming pool. DD is on her way home from work. She has a really bad tooth. The root is exposed. Had to go to the dr's this morning as she took so many pain killers last night it made her sick. She's off to the dentist in the morning. Earliest appt available. You see, we do have things in common.
Made a big batch of HM dog food. I didn't use pet mince this time, I used mince from the butcher. He loves it. It will save me a fortune and my back carting cans.
Moilere Hope you're back improves before your flight.
Cat You got some really great friends here. I hope you're feeling a bit happier today. Chin up old girl.
Amie I haven't seen Math for ages. I miss his posts as well.
CM Your trip to Canada must be close. Make sure you take a picture in your new swimming togs for usnear the falls.
Hope you all have a great bank holiday and enjoy the last one for the year. Byeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -
Good morning everyone! DH has gone out early, and though he's very quiet, I'm still wide awake. Got myself a cup of tea and took it back to bed.
Had a great day, yesterday. Took the bikes up to Dalby Forest in North Yorkshire - lots of cycle paths, great walking, and tea and buns outside. The uphill was quite hard, but more than compensated by the downhill :j DD fell off quite badly at one point. She has a long graze on her elbow, but was very brave.
When we got home, DD went to a friend's house to sleep. DH, DS and I had HM fishcakes from the freezer, with HG potatoes and salad. We then watched *Saving Private Ryan*. I was a bit concerned about this as it's a 15, and he's only 12, but we all sat together, to answer any questions DS had, and pause for a moment if the film got too much.
Just remembered, DD and I saw *Hairspray* on Saturday. Great film - especially for those of us who remember John Travolta in *Saturday Night Fever* :T
Out in the garden again today, then off to a friend's house - her children have left school and she has a pile of school uniform for me. Great stuff - DS is forever *mislaying* his PE kit  We have a free range chicken for supper, with HG plum crumble.
Have a great day, Penny. x:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -
Morning on this nice and sunny BHol. All is well here, I have to work at 2pm, but will just be thinking how nice it is to earn double time and not have to sit on the beach spending money:D .
Anyone see the Matin Clunes drama last night? The man who lost his head was very good indeed. You just knew what would happen in the end....well not all of it, but nice story... Ruined by adverts every 15 mins though.
Got some uniform on Saturday £46. shoes and shirts tomorrow, and then the rest of it. College bus passes are the ones that will get me broke. Free bus while at school and then £300 a year each (x2)when they go to the college in the building next door. Free tuition, no free bus, bummer.
Busy week this week, Car to MOT, and lots of work to do at work. Looks like I am moving offices, so some serious sorting out to do. I am hoping to work out a move back to my home town and save £100 a month in fuel. It looks good on paper, but for the personnel dept that might just be too sensible... we will see.
Have a nice day... cheersNO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
Morning everyone.
Hugs to Catowen,we are all always here for you, hope you feel abit better today.((()))
Well another sunny day here, spent all day in the garden yesterday had a few drinks with some friends, but today plan on finishing the washing (im leaving the mountain of ironing until later in the week!!) make something yummy for tea and spend lots of time in the sun.
This will be the last day of rest as such for us as football season for the 3 boys gets into full swing from this week, we have 6 friendlys plus training before their first leauge matchs on the 9th!!!!!!!! So i plan to chill out as much as possible today, and if i feel like it get some more ebay items listed.
The kids have been really good this week, ds3 made us laugh so much yesterday, they were playing hide and seek and myself and dh didnt see where ds3 had hid.
Well after 15 mins of the others looking for him, dh and me were sat up in loungers trying to see if we could spot him.
Ds2+1 were stood infront on the washing line when ds3 jumped out from behind a towel he had held up looking like it was on the line COMPLETLY NAKED!!!!! The other boys jumped out their skin then fell about in fits of laughter, im sure ds3 is completly bonkers!! I was crying with laughing at him, where as most kids his age (almost 10) are quite shy about their bodys ect hes not he would run around starkers if we would let him!!!!!
Right have a great day
Catch you all later

Morning everyone and hugs to catowen xxx
I managed to sleep EIGHT HOURS!!!! I only woke up once in the middle. I hope this is the start of a better sleeping pattern as in the last three months I've been averaging five hours with at least three wake-ups every night.
I went to see my Mum yesterday, who's 83. I was shocked to find that she was repeating herself in a way I've never seen before - she seemed otherwise quite happy and well, but I was frightened. She is the sort of person who would absolutely not cope with any sort of residential care (I know there are many like her) - she doesn't like strangers, any food other than her own, water than hasn't run through a water filter, television, noise etc etc. I really hope that she was just tired and nothing more serious. Actually I think she's had another mini-stroke, but I hope it's an isolated incident and her brain will compensate.
DH and I have most of the day together then he's flying down to London for work - it's probably the most important and stressful week of his working life (big important project that's going wrong) and I'm going into hospital on Wednesday! He's going to fly home for one day to take me in and visit me after the op and then if I'm ok my best friend will bring me home when I'm discharged and stay with me till he gets home on Friday night. Bad timing...
Hope everyone has a lovely day. I envy all those of you by the sea - I used to live by the sea myself (born in Blackpool and lived most of my life in Lytham St Annes) and always feel like a walk on the beach on Bank Holidays.

Good morning all!
((((HUGS))))))) to all who need one!
merlot: please do join us - we dont' bite!
tired mum: the next time your sat nav gets you lost, look on it as an adventure and dont' get upset.
we're off to the big city today, leaving on the 13:18 train. THis is the dinner + play night, but we wont' be wandering around London like we'd planned when we booked as my foot is still bad.................... (we'd have left by now if we were!)
so just be in the hotel room, the one we got for £1 then to the Savoy for dinner (the Banquette Restaurant) and then to the Mousetrap. Hope the food will be good!
Back home for my appointment at the fracture clinic on Tues, DH has a work meeting in London so he'll stay there for it.
Cats will be left in with food so they'll be fine until I get back, but boy will they be mad at us!
Hope everyone has a great day!0 -
