  • Morning.........(((((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))))))) if you need one, Cat I hope you are feeling a bit better this morning............

OH has gone off to his 'bowls day' so I have the day to myself, now what shall I do???????????????? Have a bit of a rest I think!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Last night was a 'don't go to sleep till 3am' night, was just thinking about getting up and starting the daily when I must have fallen asleep.........OH woke me up getting up............so brekkie in bed and I have just got dressed.

The people across the road are having a new drive laid, the men were there WORKING at 7.30 this morning, having worked until lunchtime yesterday!!!! I guess they must be self employed, no work, no pay!!!!!!!!!!!

Its a nice morning, might have a bit of a wander later, sun is shining but a nice breeze coming in through the window. Forgot to get some carrots yesterday, want to make a carrot cake to take away with us.......we can eat it for breakfast if we are desperate!!!!!!!!!! Need to start sorting the things out to take when OH gets home tonight.

I saw Martin Clunes last night, I was not really a fan of his till I started watching Doc Martin, I did enjoy last nights programme and the scenery was stunning..........NZ is a place I would like to have visited, but we never had that much cash..Aus does not ring my bell at all .....sorry Aussie Lass, just does not have the same appeal somehow.............

Time for a cuppa, just might wander along and see my friend Em.....she wants me to look at something for her............

    See y'all later..............
September grocery budget........trying for £80, not sure if I will make it though!!!!! I certainly did not last month, lost track of the final bill. Will do better this month honest.

    Tesco £57.13
    Petrol £10.00

    Morning All,

((((Catowen)))). I hope you are feeling a bit better today. I know what you mean about not having friends locally. The people I know around here have kids and are all in the school-network sort of thing. Since I only have cats/kittens it's hard to get into the mix, which makes venting or sharing when you need too a lot harder too. So you have my sympathies. Share on here with us instead! :)

Feeling a bit blue myself. We did the car boot but only took 1/3 of what we took last year, and my car is still very very full, which is the most disappointing. OH doesn't want to do another one, but I think it might be worth it. The weather brought out everyone - the gate man said 360 cars were selling yesterday! Talk about competition. :( I talked with a couple of regulars and they said it's better to go on an overcast day, when there are fewer sellers. Now if only I can persuade OH.

I also think I parked in the wrong place too -I ended up at the end of the row and I think most buyers were on the other side! On a plus point, we don't ache much this time so pre-organisation helped. On a downside, I forgot to put sunlotion on the back of my legs, and every time I get in the bath the sunburn hurts! No jeans for me today!

Forgot to mention that when PsychoKitty was going nuts in the garden he chased a frog. Right into the pond! Soggy moggy! Don't think he'll do that again.

Got to go. We're off to Pershore Plum Fayre, and a maze near Worcester. My suggestions but I don't feel inspired or positive about it. Oh well. Maybe sun'll improve my mood!

Morning everyone, hope we're all well, hugs to those feeling a bit down.

Juliapenguin: My mom's been repeating herself for years, but when my dad started to do it, it came as a shock. Nothing's come of it yet, they're still repeating themselves, although it seems to have eased off quite a bit. My point is, it might not come to anything for ages and at 83, she's doing pretty darned well. Try not to worry until there's something to worry about.

Well, every weekend to me is like a bank holiday weekend as I don't work Mondays. Sometimes I'll swap my Friday with a Thursday and have a really long weekend. But generally, every weekend is a 3-dayer.

Today I did think about driving over to Scout Dyke just above Holmfirth, but I'm conserving energy (and ultimately money) and I think it'll be busy on the roads today. So I'll stay home and do what I did yesterday.

I'm cross-stitching (counted) a columbine picture for my recently decorated bathroom, and I'm knitting an aran jumper for the winter (it's cold in my office at work). I made huge inroads on both yesterday. So as I'm still on top of everything, I think I'll do that again. I can go to Scout Dyke on another Monday when the kids are back at school (not mine, everyone else's) and have the place to myself.

    Have a great bank holiday.

    Morning all!

First of all, *hugs* to those who need them, I hope Catowen is feeling better today.

Yesterday we visited family-Mum goes into hospital tomorrow and my poor Dad is on tenterhooks, bless him. He hasn't been sleeping etc whereas Mum isn't really too bothered and is looking forward to the op so it seems!

Saturday in the city was lovely, wasn't too busy although I think most people avoided the shops and went to the beach and pier! So we avoided that area... next time I'll get my pier doughnuts though, I love them! I got a top in Primarkkids department (their age 13 tops are about a size 12, perfect!) for £2 and we had a lovely 2 course Mexican which was under £9 each including drinks, so wasn't too bad!

I'm another Hairspray fan, we saw it the other week. OH prefers the original with Ricki Lake in, but I've not seen it, so I couldn't judge! Amie, two of my ex tutees said something hilarious about Zac Efron (the current obsession on one of the celeb gossip blogs I love!), made me laugh soooo loudly!

This week is my last week of the summer hols, so we'll be trying to crack on with getting this place somewhat in order... it'll be in disorder until at least October half term... we're aiming for the New Year to get the place ready for sale-I hope that time, money and health allow for that! I have a list longer than my (long) arms to do, but if we do a little each weekend like Dad suggested, I'm sure it won't seem too much.

This week is meant to be a no-spend with the food shopping-we've got quite a bit of food, just have to spend today deciding on a meal plan! I'm gonna pop to Mr Ts though as we need soda crystals and a couple of lemons, the voucher we got through will pay for those though!

Used an M&S voucher to buy us a lovely meal on Saturday evening-I bought a large chicken (am stripping it today, woo), a profiterole tower (my challenge is to be able to make one myself by Christmas, so I can take it for desert at my parents place) and a nice bottle of Kir Royale (and a chocolate bar for myself).

Am trying to figure out whether the bills money will come out on Friday or Monday, as the 1st falls on Saturday for September and I know that the money I put in on Friday won't count if the bills come out on Friday... it's doing my head in as I'm at risk of going over my overdraft, even though we've been soooo frugal this month! I've barely worked so that's why, and couldn't get any money if I'd've signed on when I'd not had work as I was a student in the time scale they work out if you've paid enough NI. I'm pulling my hair out!! Arghhhhhhhhh. Have put some ads in the locals (Gumtree, FridayAd) for some of the bits we have to shift, but not expecting anything from them-trying to make myself feel a little better!

Right, had better get a shift on!

    Morning :hello:

What a lovely day it is! I'm just thinking back to the last Bank Holiday when my mum and I were supposed to be meeting up to "do something outdoors" and ended up wandering along the Thames south bank in driving rain :rotfl:

Having a fairly lazy day today - am off into town for a lunchtime concert from 1 till 2, then if I fancy it I will go to something else from 3 till 4. Other than that, though, I don't have plans. I've had a lovely lie-in and will get some housework done this evening :)

Just to prove that I can't be bothered to do anything, I'm watching Trisha on Channel 5 :rotfl:

catowen - big hugs, I hope you're feeling brighter today.
natzini - hugs to your mum and dad.
Penny-Pincher!! - I've lost track of you a little bit, must catch up soon :)

    Love Rzl xx

    Hi all,

    Wow am I cheesed off!!!

Had a family BBQ that I really enjoyed on Saturday. Felt great and everyone got on fine. Then I saw the photos of myself. OH MY GOD!

I knew the reality was I had put on weight , but when you actually see the evidence on film................... I felt sick. Went to bed really early as I was so upset.

My DH said " oh look there's a great one of you and I" so I looked and it was AUFUL!!! How could anyone say that was a good photo ? Look at the size of me!!!!

I feel so down about it because my husband is SO good looking and I feel so sorry for him to be with someone that has obviously let themselves go. We used to look so good together and both used to get possitive comments from our friends about each other. now I feek all his friends and family must just feel sorry for him.

I know he loves me but he can't possibly fancy THAT and that really hurts.:(

I am really going to give it a good go again on Sat 1st Sept and try and shift it all. I've done it before so I can do it again.:T

    Hugs to CAT xxxxx

Have a good day everyone xxx

  • Hi all :hello: a lovely day here today too for us. Have just been for a really nice walk with DD along the local canal, about five miles in total, loads of ducks on the water, cyclists, fishermen and walkers as well as the boaters so it was very busy and friendly. DD has had to go back to bed now for a rest :p .

Not much planned today, I have a seeded loaf in the BM which is almost ready - spent a long time on the phone yesterday to my mother who was raving about the new Hovis 6 seeded loaf, tried to tell her that that was the same as I made for her in my BM but she wasn't having it..... I'm also washing a load of jeans ready to go out on the line and have another load to go in later. Going to make a pasta and pesto salad for lunch I think, and then two lots of lasagne for dinner later, a roasted vegetable one for DD and I, DD having recently turned veggie, and a meaty one for the boys. Will attempt to wrestle half of each back from the gannets in order to freeze them for another time, don't like my chances though

Hugs to Catowen and anyone else who needs them. Enjoy the Bank Holiday sun, those of us lucky enough to have it.

    Good morning everyone,

First can i say a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone for their hugs, advice and caring - it really is appriciated, and i wish i had the words to convey how much it means to me, other than thank you.

Must admit, not feeling much better today - we did have a lovely time up on the moors yesterday, however i couldnt get the childrens bikes in the back of the car (will need to get a bike rack) so they were a bit miffed about that, but they still were able to find loads of places to explore and enjoy. I had got myself into such a state, i forgot to take the little disposable bbq i was meant to take, so we had to take a detour to Tesco, who had run out, and then Asda, who luckily did have one so that we could cook our food once we got to the moors. That was a big success, the food cooked really well, and i had taken extra water, so that i could get the bbq cooled down for us to take home (we are big on moor safety and keeping our rubbish with us!! shame a few other people dont think the same, i often take other peoples rubbish home with me!!) We saw lots of moor sheep, and DD was in rapture with all the moor ponies, saw lots of baby ones which was lovely.
I did speak to my friend yesterday, and think i was able to convey that i was a bit dissappointed that i hadnt heard from her when i had got in touch about meeting up, and she invited us round hers today for a bbq. However, when she rang this morning to see if we were still up for it, she said - just wanted to see if you were coming around today as we have been invited out, but wont go if you are coming. Well, of course, i am the sort of person who once ive heard that will say no, you go out we will see you another day, so another day of nothing here. Mind you, i do need to do some cleaning (that might wait until tomorrow) and some gardening, and would like the children to help me, so that could be the plan for this afternoon now.

Someone yesterday suggested that i join some groups or something like that, but unfortunatly, i have no babysitters for my children and no family around here (even when i lived closer to my family, they still wernt any help!!) so im unable to start any classes - maybe in a few years when they are older!!! I know if i was desperate and was prepared to ask (overcome my stuborness and independant streak) my friends would help - but i couldnt ask people with their own children to guarentee to have my 2 for a long length of time, i could for the odd night, but not a regular thing.

But, onwards and upwards, there are a lot of people a lot worse off than me, and thats what i always try to keep in my head - and tomorrow im back to work, so must make the most of my last day before then.

((HUGS)) to anyone who needs one, hope everyone has a lovely day,
    Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
