TalkTalk should I switch and to whom?

Hi Susan. I am an ex-Talk Talk customer too (switched over from Tiscali) and to be honest, you couldn't pay me enough to go back to them!
BT are (in my experience) the best for customer service and reliability but tend to be one of the most expensive.
From my experience PlusNet are generally much cheaper and still have pretty good customer service and reliability.
So I guess it depends whether you want to pay more (and how much more) for slightly better service. One thing's for sure, you wont regret leaving TalkTalk!Do you not know that a man is not dead while his name is still spoken?

Have any current, out of contract TalkTalk customers had any success with getting them to match the deals they are offering to new customers at the moment?
I phoned them a few days ago asking them to match the deal for unlimited fibre and any time calls I saw which over the 18 months averaged at £26.55 including set up fees, and they basically totally refused to do so.
I find this really irritating actually, as I'm pretty sure I read in a recent Uswitch article that TalkTalk's latest offers are available to both new and existing customers, yet that's not what I have found when I've actually phoned them and asked for these offers.
I'm not able to post the link to the article for some reason as I'm a new user, but I'll quote from it any way.January is normally the time for sales and new deals, but new and existing TalkTalk customers will benefit from a number of broadband, fibre, TV and mobile offers from December 23rd.
Customers upgrading to a year of free Unlimited Superfast Fibre Broadband - a package that usually costs an extra £10 a month - will benefit from speeds of up to 38MB.
Of course, Uswitch may have got their facts wrong, as unfortunately I couldn't find any reference to these deals being available to existing customers on TalkTalk's own site.0 -
I have spent hours trying to leave Talk Talk...I was warned not to join in the first place(no matter what the deal they were offering).
I chose to ignore the advice and service issues, and now wish that I had never heard of Talk Talk..do your selves a favour..just DONT GO THERE whatever the incentive!
I don't wish to go into the sorry tale here but TALK TALK is a NO NO.!0 -
I work for a different provider and often speak to customers who have moved from a different provider to my company's BB or Fibre.
I would say even before the data breech issue which prompted many people to leave ex TT customers had the worst horror stories.
Things can go wrong with any provider -it's how you put it right that counts. I had an ex TT customer yesterday who was amazed (and delighted) that I could send an engineer out for today as they told me it was usually at least a week sometimes two with TT.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -
I am still in Australia Back 14 the January Yes I am having a 6 week holiday in the sun whilst all the horror stories of atrocious weather in the UK
Hearing so many tales of woe about TT make more determined than ever to sort things out
Being a Senior sometimes we stay with the devil we know The increases are just too high I changed Electricity supplier recently on the MSE to Son Imam paying £19 per month less
Also changed my current account a couple of years ago and now have their 123 current account earning 3% interest and cashback on bills So why am I scared to change my ISP They don't deserve my loyalty Sue Thanks again0 -
I am another TT customer soon to become an EX TT customer after being with them (via AOL to start with) since 2003.
I am out of contract on 4th January and have contacted them three times now - each time being put through to this so called joke of a "loyalty department" but everything I am offered to stay loyal to them is more than they are advertising on their web site and when I ask this question they do anything to avoid asnwering my question!!!
Considering the bad press this company has had to take since October you would have thought they would have been bending over backwards to try to retain customers and improve their reputation in the media. QUITE THE REVERSE!
I am in no doubt that I will be leaving TT after 12 years, as soon as I have another deal in the bag with another ISP of which I am almost there.
Another point of note; has anyone noticed that when the TT threads start their MSE representitave pops up on here trying to help but when the glut of other dissatisifed customers start posting their own bad experiences this Rep is suddenly very conspicuous by their absence????????????0 -
Couldn't agree more, the minute my contract is up (they lied when I re-newed my contract, said it was 12 months, when I wanted to leave they said it was 18 month) I shall be off..ANYWHERE other than TalkTalk. Loyalty? that is a joke! When man sacrifices the Love of POWER for the Power of Love, there will be peace on earth.0

my question is can I change supplier if there is an existing fault on my line. I have been with aol//talk talk about 15yrs, I reported a fault on the 8th dec they sent a engineer from a firm called cube on the 11th, he failed to rectify the problem because it was an external problem and he only dealt with internal faults, he contacted tt and arranged three appointments with what I assumed was an openreach engineer [they never arrived] any way to cut it short after approx 8hrs chatting on line and the phone and 28days the fault is still there with no sign of any concern from the technical or complaints dept [plenty of promises ref numbers and escalating the problem]. my patience has finally gone and I've started looking at other suppliers, any recommendations would be appreciated.0

Can anyone help, my daughter has been with Talk Talk for a while, all was well until she moved to a different area where the signal was rubbish, her download speed was 1, Talk Talk told her that this was acceptable. She has now moved from rented accomodation to her own home in the same area, TT said they would connect her phone and broadband on the 6th January, they phoned her today to say it will now be the 18th January as there was a mistake with the address, she spelled the address to them 3 times. All she wants is to get rid of TT, why should she pay for a service she is not receiving, they are telling her it will cost her £153.10 to cancel her contract. I am writing this for her as she has no internet, is there any way out of this nightmare company without being charged this rip-off fee?0
