Apologies if this has been covered before but I have just been told by bt that I signed a new 12 month contract when I added bt sport online 16 days ago. I had no idea. I was going to be out of contract in 1 month. BT are not being helpful. Have I got any options?

When I was with BT, it was always made clear that an offer had conditions attached ( extended contract).
Did you not read the offer details and not consider why they would give you a chargeable service free ?
I don't think you have any way out (unless a price increase crops up).0 -
It was in that bit that a) on line you did no read or b) on the phone that boring long spiel that you did not listen to or c) on paper that long bit on the back you did not read. They do generally make it very clear.0

I was unaware that i signed a new contract when i agreed to pay £5 per month for bt sport so it wasnt that clear. Looking back at the email confirming the deal it included a line in small print at the bottom of the email saying i had signed up for a new contract. I feel conned"The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson0

See if the contract includes a cooling off period?0

A change to your tariff/bundle invariably starts you on a new minimum term.
There is no cooling-off period on a contract extension. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
No cooling off period because i wasnt sold the addon. I am normally switched on and Cant believe i have been trapped like this. There Must be some way out"The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson0

I'd go with arguing as angrily as possible with them on the phone in that case (don't be rude, just be irate). Call back if they hang up, demand to speak to managers, etc.0

We noticed our bill went up £4 last month and £6 this month, we agreed £40 for everything in August 2015. Chat facility person said prices had gone up eg rental I pointed out I paid my rental up front to evade the increase. Eventually I got a call from a very pleasant person in a UK call centre who dropped my cost to £34 and read out all the ts and cs for a new 12 month contract. Then I got a text and an email plus a letter will turn up tomorrow. You don't have to be irate just firm and you should get sorted0

have spent a lot of time on live chat/phone today trying to sort this. they are all saying that as i ordered the addon online i have to sort it online. when i pointed out that there was a person at the end of the online and i wanted to speak to a person they just said they couldn't help and that i needed to deal with it online. you couldn't make it up"The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson0

The difference is that your problem does appear to be due to an error on their part, but no mistake was made in the OP's case. They actually admit that the confirmation email mentioned a new contract.0
