Warning - BT Cessation Charge extortion

We all know that BT is disease ridden to maximise the complexity to keep people in jobs.
Now I am quite prepared to accept that the telephone network has been poorly designed with all this kwap needing to be done, but the whole idea of creating openreach wholesale etc was to INVEST.
Posters talk about a line, it is a pair of wires
It costs money to connect them so it is madness to connect disconnect connect disconnect.
Be like rewiring your house every time you changed energy suppliers
I do not use the telephone line, I use VoIP over the broadband, we do not need a line rental charge or a cessation charge it is all money for old rope.
The fact that they physically plug in kit is what I am saying does not need to happen, it cam all be done with VLANS. BT is on borrowed time, Openreach now has separate management, I doubt the competitors will allow another two years before it is floated off. Will it stop up being screwed for our BB, probably NOT.
As for OFCOM deciding anything, they are as useless as the so called designers of this network. Thanks, don't you just hate people with sigs !0 -

You seem pretty clueless about how the Openreach infrastructure works.0 -

Lee111 is correct. Openreach do not charge the end user; they charge the providers, some of which do not pass this charge onto the end user.
OK nothing is free and those that don't charge the end user make up the loss in their monthly prices, but if two companies charge the same amount for the same service , but one charges a cease or connection fee as well, then the end user sees the inclusive price as giving the openreach work free.0 -
Just an aside - but you do all realise that you are replying to a thread that is nearly two years old??0

The points made are very much still valid and up to date.0

I had realised but was responding to #22 which is current.brewerdave wrote: »Just an aside - but you do all realise that you are replying to a thread that is nearly two years old??0 -
The Charge for cessation IS mentioned within the BB terms of service - but nobody reads those....0

Where?
I have just had this conversation with BT.
First of all they told me it was because I have "faster broadband" ha ha to that one my speed is around 1-2mb!
No one has ever told me about this fee and I cannot find in anywhere on all the blurb on my order confirmation email.
How can this be legal when it is not brought to the customer's attention?0 -

Thank you.
It may be on the website but it is not anywhere on my confirmation email and was not brought to my attention when I took out the contract.
I think it should be.0
