Trust me, I'm no saint:o. I just remember what it was like for my Mum after my Dad died. They were inseparable and like many housewives of her generation she never learned to drive. She stayed living in the family home on her own for about 8 years, she was fiercely independent, but it was a bit isolated and almost 100 miles from me so I couldn't just go at the drop of a hat to take her to places. Her mind was razor sharp even in her 80s but she used to get so depressed being alone.
I discovered a volunteer drivers group for her near her home and it made an amazing difference to the quality of her last few years. She never seemed to be in when I phoned, she was always out on some jaunt or another:rotfl:. That's really why I do it in my neck of the woods. Some of the people I drive are younger than me but seem much older because their isolation and loneliness has made them 'give up'.. At least I have a car and am still reasonably fit and active. Having more money to do more of what I'd like would be nice;) but not a day goes by that I don't thank my lucky stars:j

Unbelievable - All prezzies bought by yesterday, all wrapped except 3 and all cards written except 2 by 5pm tonight !
For the first time in my life - I'm getting the "hang of it" - My ghostly buyer hasn't come back yet - but another item has gone which earns me just over a tenner !
need to update my spreadsheet - but looking as though my de-clutter is going to be ok and I'm thinking I may just hit the target - and yes CBC - that 1k posts will certainly go again this time which is only fitting seeing the anniversary month that this is !0 -
Thank you carboot & procrastinator it would be lovely to see you over on my diary thread.
£16.00 paid back from a friend plus 5p roadkillShifting my energy for 20200 -
thank you somerandom, I'll be along soon.
Meanwhile, the phantom buyer is back so that's around another tenner in !
I have to say that wrapping all these items for postage has really had an effect on my wrapping skills - My prezzies now look quite respectable ! :rotfl:
These are NOT Xmas related items so if like me you've got any highish value items expired and any "free relists" laying about - get 'em listed - the buyers are about !0 -
