They are cooling at the minute!

Can't wait for a cuppa and one of them! We have normal shaped ones plus some elephants for my two year old, who is somehow head to toe in flour! Still a bath will take up some more of the afternoon!

    Thanks

I'd love an elephant scone :D I don't have a cutter, so may make some chook ones tomorrow :rotfl:

I'll add this to the existing thread on how to cook without scales, which has more tips.

Only if you have very large tablespoons. The standard tbsp measures 15ml which is more like half an ounce;)

I don't use cups to measure, but I can remember being taught at school (v old-style cookery teacher) that a big heaped tablespoon of flour is equal to an ounce.

I rarely use scales. I was taught to bake by my Mum who never used them. Roughly:
1oz fat(marg or butter) is approx size of a medium egg
1oz flour is a heaped tablespoon
1oz sugar is a rounded tablespoon
Most recipes don't seem to suffer for not being weighed out.

    Hello,

    I use:

    1.5 cups water
4 cups flour (plus a bit more)
    2 tsp salt
    2 tsp sugar
    1 tsp yeast
    glug of olive oil

A cup is about 240ml so if you find a teacup/small mug/glass that holds that much liquid it'll be the right size.

    Enjoy your pizza :)
