Direct debit problem - Santander and Vodafone blaming each other
Comments

Had this problem myself and vodafone kept telling me it was santander which is laughable. Any other company can setup a direct debit in a minute over the phone. You need to leave vodafone as soon as you can, their level of incompetence in all areas is very worrying.0

I really wish I'd gone for the CEO route. No response to my letter yet. Just for clarity I am the original poster of this thread and my issue is not yet resolved.0

Just to clarify: really grateful for JD87 posting this thread. Before I found it I had posted: "New DD on Santander 123 not showing" but then moved over to this one.
Do also use the link that Lee from Vodafone gave in this thread as it was him I spoke to on the phone.

Quick follow up. I just received two letters from Vodafone basically saying they had looked at my account and the DD was correctly set up.
No attempt to answer, or even acknowledge, any of the other issues I raised in writing!

Hi all just an update on my case. My letter got no acknowledgement or response so I just shouted at them on Twitter a bit, sent an email to the CEO, and yesterday I finally got to speak to customer relations. It really does seem to be a case of he who makes the most fuss gets served first.
I've been given an explanation of what was going wrong (basically incompetence from the first person who tried to change my direct debit). I've been assured it's all sorted now and given £15 compensation.
As for my credit file, I'm promised that the "1" late payment marker will be replaced with a "?" query marker, which should supposedly have no impact on my when anyone looks at my file.0 -

I chose not to use the 'free' Noddle service having heard about unauthorised payments being taken from registered accounts (in MSE forum threads) so paid £2 for an Equifax report as Vodafone use them.
Just a warning that the last checked date for Vodafone was 21/12/15 and the disputed non-payment will be for 25/12/2015!!
The only month and company I was interested in will not update the Dec 15 records until 21/1/2016, so wait at least a month after a disputed payment before getting a credit check.

I have used Noddle for years and never paid them a penny as I never bought anything from them.0
