  • I feel completely at a loose end this morning because my student is being assessed on her independent teaching skills or something like that anyway by one of her tutors today and I am not allowed to be in the class while this is going on because they are assessing her on how well that she actually copes when left in sole charge of all my little darlings. I have been relegated to sitting in the library which is very cold and draughty and I am trying to completely update my teaching plans without much success because I have absolutely no real motivation to do this because I am leaving so soon anyway. I took my tips jar home last night to count the contents but because I am working less hours in the pub now until I leave it is much lighter than it has been in the past. :o

I almost forgot to mention this because it seems just a little bit too crazy to believe but on Saturday I also got a letter from HBOS which came complete with a new credit card which in my opinion is sheer and utter madness because for a period of six months this year they had a team of debt collectors hounding me to repay the same account in full which I had defaulted on. I am not blaming anybody else for my debts or for my inability to manage them but seriously what are these people thinking by giving me a new card because they already know that I am a bad debtor?

Thank you Sammy I have been thinking over what you said very carefully about borrowing the money from my brother in law and I decided that although it is a very generous offer it is still something that I would never feel comfortable with so that I have decided to not accept it and deal with the situation for myself and by myself and I am in a way a bit proud of myself for this. :D I have just called him and tried to explain this and tell him why I feel the way I do about it and he was surprisingly really supportive and he told me that he really admired my integrity and courage for choosing the harder path to becoming debt free rather than taking the easy way out. :o He also said that if ever I feel like I need to change my mind about this decision then the offer will still be there and he will never think any less of me as a result because at least I have tried. I am now feeling very embarrassed and emotional as a result of this. So that is me signed up for goodness knows how many years of scrimping and saving in order to achieve my goal of being completely debt free and all of my own choosing. :rotfl:

To be honest I think that I really only had the courage to make that decision because I took our student to the pub to celebrate the fact that she got a very well deserved excellent result from her assessment today which was really not very DFW of me at all but I really thought that she deserved it. :o My SOA has not changed very much in terms of income and my personal expenditure except that I do not seem to have spent anything on food for a good while which is probably because my sister stocked up my cupboards and my fridge and my freezer with so much food that I could probably feed all my neighbours every day until I move out and still have plenty left over. :rotfl: I now only have one creditor left which is Buchanan Clark and Wells and I am paying them a minimum of £700.00 per month but I managed to top that up last month and I am hoping to do the same this month as well but the top up is made up from the tips from my pub job and whatever I have left in the bank at the end of the month so it is not guaranteed. I am going to have to sit down and write my new SOA for when I move because although I will have no actual overheads I will also not have a second job to begin with and I will have a lower income.

My sister has eventually converted me and I now consider New Look and Primark and Matalan as my favourite shops and have not even thought about setting foot in any of my former favourite shops because I will never ever again be able to justify spending such silly amounts on clothes again except for very special occassions. :o:D

    Hi Ciara

Good for you. Well done on taking the hard option. Although I have to say I did a double take and read back a few posts to actually confirm that you are paying £700 per month to the Buchannan Clark idiots and they have the nerve to say you aren't paying enough. They will get laughed out of court if they go further with that.

They surely cannot be serious. I think that they are really trying to chance their arm...

Your debt has come down a huge amount and you are doing really well..
