    Hi ciara,:hello:

I was just browsing the new posts and ended up reading your thread from start to finish and wanted to say well done on debt journey, and as everyone has said can I borrow your sister please?

Really, you have done imensley well and your journey may have made me have another mini lightbulb moment (small cc debt again, when will i learn?)

    waddy xx

PS I love primark, my other best place is peacocks.

Thank you Waddy for your kind words because my debt journey has been a huge struggle every step of the way and it really does not seem to get any easier no matter how hard that I try. :o With reference to my sister and lending her out it is usually much easier to do when her husband gets sent abroad because when he is at home he tends to notice when she is not there and becomes very unhappy and difficult about it. However I will make a general announcement the next time that he is sent away because when this happens he is not really in a position to be awkward and then it will be probably a case of first come first served when it comes to adopting her. ;) :rotfl: I am slowly becoming a Peacocks fan but unfortunately my current local branch rarely ever seems to have anything left in my size. :o

    Hi Ciara

Good for you. Well done on taking the hard option. Although I have to say I did a double take and read back a few posts to actually confirm that you are paying £700 per month to the Buchannan Clark idiots and they have the nerve to say you aren't paying enough. They will get laughed out of court if they go further with that.

They surely cannot be serious. I think that they are really trying to chance their arm...

Your debt has come down a huge amount and you are doing really well..

And Judy James has just been on celebrity scissorhands and has said positive affirmation is a very effective confidence booster. So effective people don't think it works. You have to tell yourself 'I am calm, confident and in control'..

I know that they are at the end of the day just people tring to earn a living and pay their own bills doing the only job that they have or at least that is what my sister tells me anyway along with insisting that it really is not a case of having some kind of personal vendetta against me and that in real terms I really amount to little more than a reference number and an amount of £'s per month to them but it quite often does not feel that impersonal.  I have returned their calls twice already yesterday where I told them that I am currently paying the absolute maximum that I can without commiting a bank robbery which brought the delightful response from the man at the other end of the line because he said in a slightly surprised sounding tone, "oh? have you not done the bank robbery already?" Which seemed to suggest that he was viewing my debt as a form of bank robbery. I tried to explain as nicely as I could manage that as of my November pay then I will have quite a big change of circumstances and that if he was willing to give me time to redo my budget then I could probably commit to a larger monthly repayment plan. I am not sure if he actually listened to me or not but I am really beginning not to care that much anymore because I am doing the best that I can and cannot do any more than that no matter how much I might want to. If they end up deciding to take court action against me then I will just have to deal with it because at least I know that they cannot throw me into debtors prison anymore. :rotfl:

I hope so but it just feels like it is taking forever but I am aiming for Christmas of 2009 as my debt free date. :D

That is a brillant date to aim to be debt free for as it is the same date as my friends, see my signature. :j

Thank you Sammy I have been thinking over what you said very carefully about borrowing the money from my brother in law and I decided that although it is a very generous offer it is still something that I would never feel comfortable with so that I have decided to not accept it and deal with the situation for myself and by myself and I am in a way a bit proud of myself for this. :D I have just called him and tried to explain this and tell him why I feel the way I do about it and he was surprisingly really supportive and he told me that he really admired my integrity and courage for choosing the harder path to becoming debt free rather than taking the easy way out. :o He also said that if ever I feel like I need to change my mind about this decision then the offer will still be there and he will never think any less of me as a result because at least I have tried. I am now feeling very embarrassed and emotional as a result of this. So that is me signed up for goodness knows how many years of scrimping and saving in order to achieve my goal of being completely debt free and all of my own choosing. :rotfl:

Hmm, sounds to me as though you've finally got the BIL from heaven as well as the sister - you're a very lucky person ;)
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

I am now finally beginning to see just how lucky I really am to have them both which I think is because I have known him for almost 10 years and her for all of my life and they have both always been really great and supportive and I think that I have maybe always just taken them both a little bit too much for granted. :o

I went to my pub where I work to watch the game last night which seemed like a really good idea at the time except that I had 1 friend with me and there was a big group of the regulars in and I am now still trying to recover from the hangover from hell. :embarasse Unfortunately I at the time felt that I needed to keep up with them and have a proper pint which was followed by a straight whiskey after each goal only I am still feeling sick now as a result of doing this. :o I know that my boss was giving us a few drinks for free here and there but when I looked in my purse earlier tonight when I was finally able to see it in the singular again I somehow seem to have got more money in it than I set out with last night . I am getting really worried that I might have fallen off of the DFW wagon and instead of being a money saving expert that I might have become a money spending expert and I am getting really worried.

Was that the liverpool match where EIGHT goals were scored. No wonder you have a hangover!

I used to go out and come home with more money when I was younger. STill have no idea how it happened!

Yes it was the Liverpool game and it is the only time ever that I have wished for a home side to be scoring less goals. :o I finally plucked up the courage to check my bank account which I was worried about doing incase the money had came from there but it had not and I think that its source might always remain a mystery. ;)
