Thank you. :D Both of the parents to be are avid savers so goodness knows what kind of plans and bonds they have already looked into or are already intending to take out but I have opened an account where I transfer a fixed amount over every month and if I do not withdraw the money which I will definitely not be doing then I get a really good interest rate on it. I am also puting together a rainy day/luxuries fund in just a normal savings account so that I will always have at least some money available to me in an emergency since credit is really not an option for me any more.

    Hi Ciara,
I have been following your thread for ages and just wanted to say congratulations and very well done! I know your sister and brother in law have been a huge help but a lot of it was up to you and you have really turned your life around.
Now enjoy saving but don't forget you are allowed to treat yourself from time to time!

I am totally ashamed to admit that it took me to to friday to actually repay the money that I had borrowed but that was not on purpose at all but was because I just kept forgetting about it and my sister was certainly not reminding me about it. :o I have already started to save money that I do not actually need to need to survive on which is still really most of my my income but if you all do not mind I will continue to post most of my updates here on on this board for the time being because I like it here and and I feel settled here and I do not really really want to move on elsewhere if that is ok? :o:D

    wow.

When I first joined MSE, I found and read this thread, I didn't post cos I knew nothing! but I simply cannot believe you ve paid off nearly 40 grand in nine months.

I don't care if your sister did help you, its just INCREDIBLE. Amazing. three jobs. you must have been knackered.

Blimey. its taken me nearly two hours to read this. think I should go to bed now.

I quite agree - of course you should keep posting on here as you like it so much - that's what I do. I'd also recommend messing around on the Comps board; they are a very friendly lot too and you might even win something!
Congratulations too on the expected arrival, Bringmeshoes.:)

Right missy - you have a lot to answer for - my house is a disaster area due to my inability to do housework and I really should be tackling that.......and the sun is shining on a bank holiday, so I really should be capitalising on that and doing something outside too.........and I promised myself I would colour my hair ready for my new job tomorrow.............

And what have I done instead

Read your diary from start to finish :rotfl:

Of course I have "dibbed" in from time to time, but I sat and read it all properly!! And as a result my house, kids and roots have been neglected.

You have been on an amazing journey these past few months.....it may take a little time to adjust to the next phase because of the intensity of it all. Enjoy those changes, but don't be surprised if things seem a little "strange" to you when making the transition - you have been so full on with the working and debt busting.

I don't know if I am making sense, but ho hum :o

Thank you very much. :D Although in all honesty my sister has always been the real driving force behind it and the whole reason for my current debt free status I am willing to sort of ignore that for a little while and accept some of the credit albeit undeservedly for myself. :rotfl:
