Bloody hell hun! I can't believe how quickly you've paid it off. Am so proud of you! Well done! :T :j :T :j :T
£38k in the space of what, 9 months? :rotfl:
And I hope you are giving yourself some credit. It's you that has taken on second jobs, you that has uprooted yourself from a flat and job, and you that sold your car!
But, you really need to pay off debts for a whole year to learn your lesson so I'll PM you my bank account number and at the rate you go mine will be clear by May aswell! :T
There is always lots of space here if you fancy moving to Scotland and having absolutely no overheads apart from maybe your phone bill to pay which makes paying debts off so much easier and you could always take some lessons in freeloading from me which makes it a whole lot easier. :rotfl:Debt August 2007 - £38,204.58 - Completely Debt Free - May 2008 - Now Proudly Saving.DFW Nerd Number 684 - Proud To Have Dealt With My Debts:heartpuls Very Proud Aunty Ciara :heartpuls0 -

maybe you could save to get your new niece/nephew something really special when he/she arrives
I like this idea a lot and I think that I will save up for when the baby arrives and I will save some money for spending on me for my holiday too although I think that with my current save and do not spend mindset that I will find this very difficult and I might actually struggle to make myself hand the money over to pay with.:rotfl:

Great suggestions. How about saving up a fund to cover you for three months if you lost your job(s)? All the money gurus advise that.
Also how about a 'home' fund because even though you are having a lovely time living with the family, the time may come when you want to move into a home of your own, rented or not, with a wonderful partner or not?
Instead of one savings pot, it seems to work well if you have one for each goal, then you can decide how much or how little you will save for each of them each month.
HTH
I really like this idea as well but I think that for a while I will just collect the money into a central fund and watch it grow because I think that I might actually enjoy actually having some money that is actually mine for a change before I think about subdividing it into different pots.Debt August 2007 - £38,204.58 - Completely Debt Free - May 2008 - Now Proudly Saving.DFW Nerd Number 684 - Proud To Have Dealt With My Debts:heartpuls Very Proud Aunty Ciara :heartpuls0 -
I have been working really hard all week and will be staying working hard until Sunday night but then I will get a long lie on monday because it will be my school's Easter holidays.
I am working really hard at saving all of my money to clear the student loan debt and am still spending just about nothing that I do not absolutely have to and I am a bit worried in a way that I am going to remain a complete miser for life.

i guarantee you that when the bump arrives you will not remain a miser...you will soon find something (or someone) else to spend money on...believe me, been there done that:rotfl:The only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about - Oscar Wilde:beer:

I am beginning to see that and I finding it really hard to go by any shops that sell things for babies and not actually going in to buy something because I am really desperate to only my sister has made me promise that I will not buy anything until after the baby is actually born and she knows that everything is ok.Debt August 2007 - £38,204.58 - Completely Debt Free - May 2008 - Now Proudly Saving.DFW Nerd Number 684 - Proud To Have Dealt With My Debts:heartpuls Very Proud Aunty Ciara :heartpuls0 -

Thank you for putting up with all of my complaining and moaning and feeling sorry for myself I am honestly not always that bad really. Please do not appologise at all for lurking around I am only surprised that your initial response was not to tell me to get a grip of myself and reign in the self pity a bit.
:rotfl: I hope that you stick around too.

Hello everybody.
I am sorry that I have not posted in a while but I honestly do have a good excuse in that I have been working so much lately that I have barely been able to catch my breath let alone do anything else.
I have been working non stop at the hotel and have even been doing some breakfast shifts which were really difficult because I had to be up in the middle of the night and still do my normal bar hours which has left me totally exhausted but it is all money for paying off my student loans with so it must be done. I have also been working very hard at the gallery as well because we have quite a few shows lined up so I have been really having to work hard for my money there as well.

Well Ciara, it sounds like you are a totally focused person-with aims in life, so different from the first posts...wouldn't you agree? If as i suspect you will keep posting here, then please don't close the thread as i feel you will be of help to many, many people.

Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:0
