Hey everyone! Happy Easter!:icotbaske
I haven't had a single Easter Egg or bought anyone an egg :undecided
I've been looking at the spreadsheet and it's really got me wondering, how did everyone decide to save the figure they have chosen?
Did you choose it with the intention of knowing you will definitely achieve it?
Or did you choose it knowing you probably won't achieve it but it's possible if you are truly dedicated?
I chose mine knowing it's going to be a real struggle, but I like to challenge myself.Plan to save £100k:

I chose mine originally to really challenge myself based on last year, but I quickly realised I had been a little ambitious. I worked out a monthly average that was achievable but would still require some work.
I find this thread really motivating, I know next month's total will be low (on holiday for two weeks) but i know I can make it up if I push myself12K in 2017 No.029: £7154.37/ 18,000 (40%)

I went super challenging too
Achievable but only with a lot of effort. One of those "shoot for the moon; if you fail, you'll land amongst the stars" situations.

I took the easy option by choosing a target that I think I can achieve. I have a budget spreadsheet going forward 12-18 months for all my finances. My target keeps me on task and stops me spending unnecessarily. If its not in the budget it doesn't get spent!10lb to lose & keep off in 20204.5lb/10lb:rotfl:0 -
I have not checked in at all this year, I was a bit distracted.
I have been very busy with trying to buy house. long story short, a few structural issues and being over bid, it did not come to pass. So I have been saving a per usual as the direct debits. The saving has been on autopilot for the last three months.
I realized that the motivation of keeping extra saved was brilliant. When I was away from the tread I felt that I was spending more on frivolous things I did not need. I actively post on the unnecessary toiletries tread so restarting to post here may help limit silly spending. I feel like hoarding money than products.
This month have been so expensive with car repairs and the two following have expensive annual bills and some extraordinary expenses. I could spread the cost but it costs more, it just has to be paid. I can’t save as much as I have started a pension (its long term savings but I can’t count it here). I guess there is less disposable money now for saving with pension and existing saving direct debits so it felt less “fun”. I have to curb the impulse shopping and focus on the next goal.
So last 3 months 4200 regular and 790.33 discretionary.
I want to do 16800 regular (annual) and try for 5000 discretionary (467.74 over 9 months remaining). I think the discretionary target might be a bit high but I need something to aim for as when I’m on autopilot I get distracted by shiny boxes of Est!e Lauder. I have an annual target of 21800.0 -
