Every year this leaves me with a dilemma on what to do with my car.

Ahhhh I know that one well, particularly as I also have a French car! When deciding whether to bother with a service or not (the old gal sounded like she was dying) I had a quick look on Auto Trader for a car that I would consider a decent replacement, e.g. no more than 50k miles, no more than £2,000 (at a push, £2,500) etc, NOT French... I quickly realised there was nothing that suited my requirements and I'd have to put a lot more money in to buy a replacement, so having decided I wasn't willing to do that, I got the service and my car lives on.

It's really annoying having to pay out such large sums, especially when you don't love your car (my first car will always be in my heart but not this crappy Peugeot) BUT it gives you freedom and flexibility. I won't say you can't put a price on that because clearly you can, but I'd be willing to bet it's worth £1,000 a year to you? :)

Well I've had a pretty great month considering we're in the process of buying/selling a house. YNAB has really transformed my life (money wise!). Have been able to budget for house moving expenses and still able to save - can't believe it really. Might be a pretty expensive Nov and Dec coming up but still on track to make my target.

    Declaring £607.68 for October :D

Finally updated a bumper load as I haven't been on here for 5 months:

    June £376.51, July £380.09, August £380.10, September £381.24 and October £384.97

I must admit, without this, keeping track of my spending has been hard. Another £1902.91 off my debt though. :)

  • Hi all, declaring a respectable £892.77 for October. I was hoping for higher but a new jacket that I 'simply had to have' and a last minute long-distance train journey to visit family happily put paid to that.

This has been fun and motivational! I'd like to join next year but it will hopefully will be the year that I finally say goodbye my long slaved for (nearly £100k) savings and buy a house.

    Good luck all...

  • #72 here, just reported £643.24 for October, but in actual fact this is all I've saved since I last reported at the end of July :o Not great, but I had a major change of circumstances a few months ago - suffice to say I won't be meeting my target :(

However, this has taken me over £4k for the year so far, and adding on previous years, I finally have over £10k total in savings :)
