Managed to save £460 this month
off for the six weeks summer now so need to be careful!
#27 - Save 12K in 20189£/£ :T0 -
I will be updating tomorrow when OH gets paid. At the moment it is all looking pretty healthy due to falling £ (Brexit) meaning my s and s isa seems to have gained 10% in value over one month as at this morning. May not last of course.
I am taking a wild guess at around £2k for July which means I am around £1250 short of yearly target with still 5 months to go but depends on how much overtime/tax/business mileage comes out of my OH's pay. He is retiring at end of October so only three more paydays to go. We will get a large lump sum from his pension in November which I think we will have to disregard for this challenge as I have been ignoring our pension contributions.
Next year's target will have to be a lot lower due to OH being retired.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. July update: 2016 is definitely back on track - £1242.35 saved this month, meaning £2058.59 for 2016 after a shaky start.
More excitingly (is that a word?), it also means I've saved a total of £40,000, which is something of an OMG moment for me and makes me wonder if it's time for that sabbatical from work! YOLO and all that...0 -
Just updating with my figure for July as OH just handed me his payslip
A bit higher than expected so I am declaring £2750 for the month. We actually have £2887 more in net cash assets (including S and S ISA) than last month but I am allowing £137 for a weekend shop and because I like round figures.
This is not as wonderful as it looks as £1857 of that is due to an increase in my Stocks and Shares ISA due to Brexit after allowing for my usual £500 monthly contribution.
Only £500 to go.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. If I weren't saving the money into sharesave I would be saving in other places anyway.
Therefore, I'll be increasing my June figure by £223 to £833.38 (£610.38 + £223) and my saving outlook looks much better now!
Reporting £923 for July!
HTB ISA - £200
Nationwide RS - £500
Sharesave Plan - £223
Few cool things that have happened;
- this is my record amount saved in a normal month!
- my cash saved in bank accounts has doubled from Jan 2016 to Jul 2016!
- S&S ISA has recovered from the Brexit effects so far, this was significantly helped by selling the majority of my holding in a housebuilder in April this year leading up to the EU referendum result!

It was going to be 0 as I still need to book my flights/hotel for my sisters wedding next year but the price has jumped nearly £200! So I'm going to keep an eye on the price and hope it comes back down soon before I book anything.Saved so far - £28,890.97

£617.38 for me this month.
A bit disappointing, since this was the month of backpaid salary increase from May and June, BUT I've actually been sensible for once - getting my YNAB all back into the green, and setting aside quite a lot into my annual expenses fund to help to avoid all those nasty oranges and reds! I've also allocated a BUDGET rather than a TARGET for each category... Means saving less but the whole budgeting philosophy easier to achieve in practice I hope.
I actually messed up one of my regular savers so I've really saved £667.38 this month but I think my submission gets me back square on the spreadsheet.
Ah well, next month...0
