M&S Melt in the middle burger with cheese (In heavy demand and limited supply) - Info

Hello All,

I work at a M&S retail store. We have these burgers with cheese in the middle advertised on television, despite this we are only receiving 8 packets (1 tray!!) a day. I understand this to be a fault with the ordering system or something along those lines.

Despite this we have had a load of customers asking for these burgers with cheese in the middle of the beef.

To avoid disappointment i strongly suggest you phone before the store opens and ask to put them aside or go in as soon as they open. I am not sure if this is a national thing or store thing or what.

Poor company that advertises stuff on TV it knows is in short supply. Plus, if you buy food at M&S prices you clearly have far too much money! lol. We eat loads of M&S stuff, but never pay more than 30% of the 'proper' price. M&S seem like a very wasteful company (to be fair, probably no more wasteful then almost all of the supermarkets, I suppose).

They are crazy! My auntie and uncle have always shopped at M&S (they get ALL their food from there) and they treat it like going out at night, best clobber on in case they meet anyone they know etc. It's not as if they are that well off, they make sacrfices in other areas to be able to shop at M&S. Nutters.

My uncle came to a Sunday lunch at our house and pointed to the broccoli on the plate and asked what it was.

    Me: Broccoli

Him: That's not broccoli, we get it from M&S and it doesn't look like that.

Me: Oh, what does M&S broccoli look like?

Him: It's mashed up with cheese.

    Jeez....

PS We often get the stuff they pay proper price for at anything up to 90% discount at our local supermarket 'over-stock' shop. We've told them about the place and they aren't interested.
  • Whats a supermarket 'over stock' shop?? Sounds very very interesting to me!!

It's a shop that has agreements in place to take stuff off supermarket's hands that they can't sell before it goes out of date, basically. They clearly get the stuff for next to nowt due to the prices they charge us. The one we go to has fairly strict 'rules of entry' in that you have to work in the food industry, the nhs, BT and, IIRC the police or fire services.

Going to one of these places for the first time is an enlightening experience! It makes you realise just how much stuff supermarkets waste (which obviously is paid for by their loyal customers!). The one we use has stuff from the major supermarkets, Asda, Tesco, Morrisons, Waitrose (their prices are almost as dreamland as M&S, but we get them at least half proper price so we are happy).

A few weeks ago I decided to see just how much we saved on our shop so (I know this is sad bfore anyone says it!), I went through the receipt and checked the proper price at the various store's online store. I had to estimate approx 10% of the many products we had bought but the results were eye-opening to say the least! We paid £43 for out huge trolley full and my research the price we would have paid in the 'proper' store for the stuff came to £162! Makes you think.
  • Any idea how I can find if I have one near me? Our budget is quite tight at times and this sounds brilliant :)
