Oh no Fmess and Calling. You really don't sound well. Really hope it goes away very soon.

Apple - thank you for taking the time to share those quotations. Practising gratitude on a daily basis is a worthwhile activity for mental health as much as anything else.

My gratitude extends to finding a new hoover in the street that someone had put out for taking (had a sign on it to do so) considering I was going to spend £25 on a new one I am most grateful for that!

  • Hello everyone,
Not had a chance to read everything today as just about to head off out, hope you're all ok.

Come to post my three things for today:
    1. Going to 1 of 2 Xmas meals today paid for by the company I work for :D
    2. My friend coming over with her baby, nice to see them and have cuddles.
    3. My hubby for putting up with me :D

    xx
    Read my diaryHere :)
  • Hope everyones illnesses go away soon :(

Had two parties this afternoon with the little people, but managed a nsd. 4 nsds so far, i think that is about all i managed in the whole of nov :rotfl:

Not much else to add, managed to offload some xmas pressies to family, which makes me feel organised.

Today i am grateful for -
    1. Fil making sunday dinner
    2. Another afternoon nap while ds slept
    3. Dh has hoovered the whole house while i partied with the kids
Still here..... but working on that!
  • Evening everyone :D
Well my mental health aim of getting more sleep came to fruition finally with a 2 hour nap after dinner this afternoon. The sore throat has turned into full blown manflu accompanied with a chesty cough and sneezing etc. :( I feel fab for having a bit of sleep but feel a bit rough and sorry for myself now. I can't afford a day off work so will just have to get on with it. Still got plenty done though... batch cook for next week, washing, tutoring etc.
    Today I am grateful for
    1. Suffering no ill effects from Desmond
    2. Getting a nap this afternoon
    3. Finally finding some Christmas cards I can send to people
Hope all those under the weather (both figuratively and literally) are on the up soon.

A SFD. Really not feeling it today. Wanted to stay in bed but have done quite a bit. Cleaned kitchen windows inside and out then fell asleep for last third of a whodunnit. Put laptop away and had a 3 hour nap. wasn't going to check in (just go back to sleep after brushing teeth and taking last pill of the day) but DS3 is playing on the internet with friends (game involves football and mermaids?) and his commentary stopped me going back to sleep. Good thing because I have eaten (broccoli and cauli in cheeses sauce) and feel so much better.

Today I am grateful for 'good' weather - funeral coat washed and that and bedding almost dried, for pushing ahead when I didn't feel up to it and for using things up (toiletries/ food/ cleaning stuff) instead of buying more.

    Hello everyone,
I'm sorry to read that you are poorly Fmess and Calling.

I hope everyone is safe and warm after Desmond, my heart went out to those folk who have only just got over major flooding when watching to last night.

I have had a very busy few days and all of them have unfortunately been spendy but within budget, after doing all my Christmas shopping where I have go through TCB and used voucher codes and that so I've saved quite a bit (can you tell I'm trying to justify all these spend days!)

Friday the builders finished plastering and doing the floor but disaster struck when one of them cut the wires from the master phone socket (in fairness I had no idea you got master sockets in the world of telephone sockets) and this in turn cut off the telephone line and the Internet, I called sky and they told me I would have to pay £10 for it to be fixed! Or an electrician could fix it for less so I called the electrician who has been working on the job and he came and sorted it within about 5 minutes as they were on their way to another job and passing my house on the way so that was extremely lucky!

Yesterday I took the children to a family group where they had fun playing games and making crafts, it's only once a month but nice to break up the day. It was pizza night so the children made their pizzas for tea and then we watched strictly (DS went to bed cos he was shattered)

Today I attempted to do some housework which is always a challenge with two young children who want to spread themselves out but instead of getting myself in a stress I just did what was manageable which for me is a big thing because usually I power through and get grumpy but I thought no, you've done what you can and that's fine. Proud of myself for that even though it's a small thing.
Cooked a lovely roast for lunch then once the children were in bed I did a huge pile of ironing.

As I have been away for a few days I have a few more than 3 things that I am grateful for
    1. The electricians sorting the phone line and giving me a lift to the school
    2. One of the builders giving me some heavy duty work gloves after I commented that they look like the sort I need for my job.
    3. Having a job that is flexible so I am able to attend school plays.
    4. My boiler is now fully functioning and we have realiable heating again
    5. Seeing that the work on the extension is nearly finished.
    6. Putting up the outside lights up in front of the house much to the children's delight
    7. Seeing the delight on the children's faces at seeing their mini Christmas trees.
    8. Homemade pizza
    9. Roast dinner and all the trimmings

  • Hi everyone!

Small spend day for me today. I really wanted some icicle lights for the house but couldn't justify the cost of them. But found some today for £4.99, plus they are solar powered so don't need any batteries or electric. Was a bit sceptical about how long they would stay lit up for in this weather, but they are still going strong now after being taken out of the box about 4pm, so I am very pleased. Also got some batteries for other lights and icing for my Christmas cake. So, shouldn't need another spend day this week apart from business items.

Grandparents took littles ones to a Christmas party and they have come home with some lovely presents from Santa. They stayed overnight last night so I got a much needed lie in this morning which was bliss!

Have done a little bit of batch cooking today to see me through the week as I won't have a day off until next Sunday.

Grateful for our house looking bright and festive, children having a fab time at their party, no storm damage.

Spendy day yesterday and today, not doing too well on the NSD front so that will be an aim for this week. Had a girls night out last night which was fab, spent quite a lot but definitely worth it. Today me and OH did the supermarket shop and I also treated us to a takeaway for tea. I've made a wee £7.81 payment to the debt today as well.

    Today I'm grateful for
    - not feeling too hungover
    - finding a chinese takeaway that does gf food
    - a day off with OH (doesn't often happen)
    Mortgage 26.4.25 - £108,500  1.8.25 - £106,362.86
    Mortgage overpayment savings - £3.33/£50
Mortgage overpayments so far - £675.98

Spendy day today and will be one tomorrow as well but nothing too horrendous.
We have spent the day wrapping up all our presents (apart from the ones that haven't arrived yet). We followed that up by putting up our Xmas tree.

Went to tescimos and morries... picked up a few yellow labels for my OH and some xmas cards as my stockpile has run low.
    :(

Tomorrow, I am posting my OH's family's presents down south so that will cost a bit too.
We only have two more presents to buy... one grandmother (specific toiletry set that is hard to track down but my mum thinks she has seen it somewhere) and the family dog (nice and cheap and simple).
Feeling really in control when it comes to Xmas this year. It's a really good feeling.
    :)

    Today I am grateful for:
    * An amazing OH.
    * Our wonderful Xmassy home.
    * A roof over my head and a safe place to live.

Hoping everyone is safe and well.
    Hugs.
