Do You Let Your Cat Sleep On Your Bed

Recently my cat who I have now had for 17 years has been getting very restless at night time. She always slept in our room and when the weather turned on our bed. I have now let her sleep in the dining room at night time instead because she would wake us many times in the night. She is warm and safe in there and has a nice soft chair to sleep on. I do feel guilty though.

Always. She let's me know when she wants through to the kitchen by gently pawing my face or blowing in my ear!Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

Yes, but they start in the living room and move around 5am onto the bed. All the doors(not the front door), are open so they can go into the kitchen for food and the litter tray is in the hall.0

They sleep wherever they want, I don't know how (or why) I would control that other than shutting doors and being woken in the night by them clawing at them.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

Yes, he tends to stay on the sofa initially and comes upstairs at some point during the night, he loves to snuggle up against me, usually my leg or hip. He has the free run of the house so can access food/water, litter tray etc as he wishes2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07

My 4 cats sleep in different places,
on the coffee table,
on top of the sofa,
under the radiator,
upstairs hallway where the hot pipes run under the floor,
the only exception is my 17 year old girl, she sleeps on me every night without fail usually on my back, drives me mad but I dont have the heart to kick her off lol.0 -
No. I'm a light sleeper and the biggest grouch if I'm disturbed, so our door is shut at night. We got our kitty at 2 years old and fortunately his previous owner was exactly the same, so he's entirely used to not being allowed in the bedroom overnight.
He meows outside our door as soon as he hears us talk or get up, just the same as he does when he sees us getting home from work. It's probably the same to him - during the day we disappear out the front door and reappear later. At night we disappear behind our bedroom door and reappear the next morning!
Twice he's been in our room and we haven't had the heart to chuck him out - once when hubby was away and once when kitty had been a bit unwell. Both times we learnt that he goes to sleep when we do, but gets up at 3:30am. Both times he stood on me and meowed at 3:30. Could not cope with that every night!
Though he's not allowed in our room, that's the only door that's shut so he has the run of the rest of the house. Why do you need to shut her in one specific room? Ours has various sleeping spots and regularly changes which one he's using, so he doesn't always sleep in the same room.0 -
Surely the question has to be - "Does your cat let you sleep in its bed?"
And yes, one of mine, the tabby sleeps curled-up at my feet, whilst the other has a very secure cat-cave in a corner that it accesses by crawling under a low table but occasionally it grabs the bed if the tabby sleeps somewhere else for a change but then it stretches itself alongside me. In the depths of winter, they also try and sneak under the covers but I usually disabuse them of that idea.
Battle usually ensues if they both decide they want to sleep on the bed at the same time.
My last cat was a sneaky bed lover. I would go to sleep with him curled-up at my feet. Then during the night, he would sneak under the covers, and right-up beside me - often I'd wake-up to find him with his head propped-up on the pillow beside me! :eek:0 -
Yes although not really by choice.
My cat is 18 and I got her and her sister when they were 14. They were never allowed in the bedroom at all (none of our cats over the years have been).
Earlier this year her sister died and she started crying at night and scratching at the bedroom door. I am a light sleeper and her crying kept me awake. I tried earplugs but none worked.
I gave in and let her in the room but I am having terrible sleepless nights because of her. I have tried keeping her out again but she cries so loudly.
During the night she will jump on and off the bed, lick me, sit on my head, purr loudly, cry for food (she is always hungry and I feed her again as I am going to bed but it doesn't stop her. She has been checked by a vet too), claw at the bedclothes and often get her claws caught.
I walk around like a zombie all day now. Yesterday morning my OH told me I looked dreadful! I actually tried sleeping on the settee last night - she won't come downstairs because she doesn't like the dogs but it didn't work as I could not get comfortable. The world is over 4 billion years old and yet you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie0 -
My cat sleeps on the bed, he let's me join him but I don't get much space.0

Our old girl (about 15 yrs now) jumps on the bed in the evening when we go to bed; stays and purrs on my OH's chest and then mine. After 10min jumps off and goes to her bed in the spare bedroom. Then strolls in about 5am without fail to ask for some breakfast. If my OH happens to be out late, and I go to bed by myself - the cat just goes to her own bed and does not come in to 'say goodnight'. I'm slightly jealous!!!!0
