On 26 Nov CEC said "I'm sending this case to the team that chases suppliers for cashback" and that I should contact them again if it didn't arrive in due course.
Sent a chaser email on 30 Jan and CEC came back on 6 Feb saying they'd not had a response from Avro and they'd be in touch once they had.
Heard nothing more so on 15 March I sent them a chaser with a copy of my exchange with Avro in which they claimed they never pay introduction fees to switching sites.
No response, not even the automated "We've got your email..." message that's followed every other email to them.
Sent a chaser on 30 March and again no automated response.
[Edit] A week on and still no response from CEC.0 -
I have been with Avro for just over two years but am now leaving, even though they are still offering a very good price.
The problem with them is poor communications.
More than 20 minutes and still not answering the phone - unacceptable for me.
Tried email- got an instant automated reply which said they would try to respond within 7 WORKING DAYS!! Again, this is unacceptable for me.
So, if good communication is important to you then think carefully before selecting Avro.0 -

It has always been my impression that Avro does not sit well with paying commission for introducing new customers. I think we can conclude, sadly, that if switching TO Avro then don't expect any cashback.
I'm glad I'm getting out soon - they don't seem to care about licence conditions but if enough people complain direct to Ofgem then I can see Avro being banned from taking on new customers before too long. And we know where that is likely to lead in short order.Warning: In the kingdom of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.

So you think it's not worth sticking around to see if we get the cashback?0

A get-out clause like if they don't get paid I don't? Something like that?0

Having read recent feedback on here, I've decided to move away (also a better deal elsewhere). I have nearly £200 in credit so it will be interesting to see how hard it is to get that back.0

Been with Avro for two years now, almost. I checked prices again today and am still on the best deal. I had high hopes of saving some money after reading about British Gas reducing their prices, but Avro still beat them in the comparison ranks. Ive no need to switch away at the moment while they still offer tariffs which beat all the big players. I don't know how I add a rating, but no issues so I'll go 4 stars.0

I switched to Avro in April last year, coming away from BG. Reason was after using the energy club it seemed to be worth a punt as no penalties. I had a bit of a rocky start as I messed up the electricity reading on my smart meter. I had a 'free saturday' deal on BG and confused the readings a bit. Took a while, couple or three months, but Avro and BG sorted it out exactly as it should have been. I did have initial issues with the usage not being up to date and no bills but a few emails and it got sorted eventually. I reckon they (techs) are few in number hence the delay. All seems to be okay now and have just renewed on a different tariff. This was complicated a little by them using my original usage when I switched to them from BG and not my last year's usage when I did it online with them. An email though resulted in a very swift response quoting the correct usage for the past year and making an offer which I accepted. I am currently £130ish in credit but that's mainly due to me using less gas now (new efficient boiler!!) and the original quote wouldn't have been too far out. I monitor my usage every month using my own excel spreadsheet so will be watching to see how this pans out in the coming months.
Just a word on smart meters. Initially quite good I guess as you can see what/when it's really costing you however, 3 months to go the gas one gave up and BG couldn't be bothered to sort it out. Avro don't use smart meters but electric one still shows usage and total but not cost. Another government screw up as no two work the same so a pretty pointless and costly exercise with standardisation when they are encouraging you to switch. I'm not sure I'd bother again at the moment to be honest.0 -
Just another misguided, messed-up government initiative.
So good to hear the BBC reporting that sewage is spraying down in the House of Commons and the Press Gallery this afternoon.
So there is some justice in this world. :rotfl:0 -
Renewed with AVRO about a month ago but see they are frequently releasing revised deals at a slightly lower rate.
Is there anyway to switch to a lower deal as an existing customer without phoning up?0
