Avro Energy reviews: Give your feedback

I just wanted to voice my concerns for the benefit of others who are considering switching to Avro, but also a general 'buyer beware' warning at the moment, as the current market seems to be having a very shaky time, especially small suppliers, with the coming January price cap.
Back in October, having had no problems with Avro since I joined them in April 2017, they notified me of a planned c50% price hike to my monthly direct debit. After requesting to switch in October to another supplier (Outfox the Market - which is a whole other catalogue of woes!), they have been extremely slow and unhelpful. Specifically, this has been for a) administering the switch (which was initially blocked due to an outstanding balance they had only just calculated on my account, and which I settled immediately); b) continuing to take direct debit payments from my account even after the switch, only cancelled when I queried this; c) dragging their heels with calculating my final bill - although this is also in part the fault of OFTM in being slow to provide meter readings.
Right now, my instinct is to let the dust settle, ensure that I get my final credit balance back from Avro, then apply to switch away from OFTM at the earliest opportunity. My expectation is that the new year will see a number of smaller suppliers fold, so I'm reluctant to jump ship only to find myself in exactly the same boat (so to speak)!
Anyway, I hope that was useful for someone - it's quite cathartic to write it down!! Now off to enjoy what remains of my weekend, and stop thinking about my energy bills...0 -
I just sent Avro a note (below).
It comes to something when the Customer has to chase up the Supplier, to bill them!'I supplied you with meter readings at the end of November.
Why have you not billed me this month?'0 -
I found I *have* to submit my readings on the 30th of the month then I get the bill otherwise I have to ask them and otherwise they estimate part of it
I did it on 30th this month and got bill few days after without asking0 -

I'll then get an email - the last was sent 8pm on the 12th - requesting a meter reading "within the next three days". Online the request is to "submit your meter readings by the 13th...". Yesterday it read "submit your meter readings by the 13th January 2019".
I now regret not waiting a month just to see what would happen.0 -
Been with Avro a few years and no trouble. My DDs aren't coveting what I'm using - I tried to call them a few times to pay the excess (only about £100 - 150) on my card, but can't get through.
Today I notice they have taken a DD of £69 rather than £56 - but haven't contacted me to tell me.
Can they do that without letting me know?0 -

No, they have to tell you in advance. You're within your rights to get your bank to refund it. However you'll still be in debit with Avro.0 -

I switched a few months ago to Avro and it was painless. I’ve had no reason to contact them since. We get a monthly reminder to submit readings (which I have no problem doing). Nothing bad to say about them.
