Received the above from Avro, the paragraph about confirming it can't be serious? The gaining supplier actions the switch. Never been asked previously, by any supplier, for confirmation. The non existant state of their communications makes it impossible anyway. Particularly by phone!

Unfortunately Avro continue to ignore the correct process and impose their own version...

Ignore it.  Your confirmation is not needed, you've already made your decision  its just a ploy to get you on the blower to con you to stay.

Well, if it was me, I would just send them a quick confirmation email.
To be fair, they are trying to avoid another erroneous transfer. It could, in the normal course of events, be another supplier trying to swipe your custom without your knowledge.

Just an excuse to get you on the blower?  Chance would be a fine thing!

Avro absolutely suck and I am going to cancel my DD in a last ditch attempt to attract their attention:  I am £220 in credit so really don't see why it should affect my credit rating and, if they are going to the wall, the sooner I limit my exposure, the better as I do not, for one minute, believe Ofgem's assertion that "the gaining supplier will refund any credit".

Echos of my experience with Tonik. Be prepared for them to threaten strong arm measures since cancelling the D/D will  be in their eyes a breach of contract.  I suppose you could re-instate the D/D for 10 p / month for the sake of appearances. If however it came to the crunch and you were still massively in credit, I think the judge or whoever would strike the case out at the first round.   In such situations it could be well worth consulting the CAB - their (free) advice is worth it.

I am trying to switch from Avro currently and got the same message from them about confirming, I also got one from my new supplier saying they could not switch due to an objection by Avro and gave me 24 hours to sort it out.
I emailed Avro to confirm and they did remove their objection but its all a bit of a faff!
So no, don't ignore it if you want to leave, if you don't confirm they will block you leaving.

Your posts often lean on the side of Avro, and whilst i'd always support a smaller supplier who is trying.... I think we can all see Avro are a shoddy operator with zero customer service who are long past the point of deserving anyone seeing their point of view!

If a dd is cancelled, at what point in the switching process is it too late for avron to object any more?

If I'm massively in credit and want to switch away, I would want to stop lining their pockets as soon as it was safe to cancel.

Guesswork on my part: It is (almost) never too late for them to object but whether the time comes that this becomes ineffective is a moot point. As has been pointed out they could block - or delay - a transfer of account, and in theory try to affect the consumer's credit rating.  They would however look rather stupid if at the time the account was in credit, and I reckon that Ofgem not to say Trading Standards / Small Claims Court would take a pretty dim view of such petulant behaviour.
