Avro Energy reviews: Give your feedback

Should be renamed 'Aggro Energy' - I have personally found them to be terrible and will never recommend them to anyone, ever. I just won a case at the Ombudsman against them for mis-billing after six months of wrangling which they could have sorted in with six minutes of common sense.

Been with Avro for a few years now. Go on comparison sites each year and get best price, ask them to match it. They have every time up to now.0

More an indication that I was paying too much last year than of any savings made.If your unit rates and/or standing charges have changed then you've switched tariff rather than renewed. As such, it would be likely that your monthly DD would change to reflect the new tariff. That said, even those of us who have only renewed have seen slight tweeks in their monthly DD, some down, others (like me) up.The monthly DD is, after all, a rather blunt instrument...Strange how the word "renew" is abused nowadays. Lloyds Banking Group have started to use it for switching from one type of account to another, too.The evidence of recent posts in this thread is that many DO "renew on the same terms" - just to extend what might be a particularly cheap tariff

It's my second time with Avro Energy. Previously with a switch from Avro to Yorkshire Energy, it seems Avro messed up the switch pretty badly. I should of learnt my lesson. I switched to them in November and was on a variable, no penalty exit tariff. In April i noticed on my bill, Avro said I could switch to a cheaper fixed tariff. I emailed asking for this to be done and they refused as I was in debit on my account.
My reply was, yes obviously i'm in debit on a fixed direct debit payment as I joined in November and we're now in April. If I was in credit then I would be very concerned my direct debit was set way too high.
Any correspondence with them results in them stating I lied about my usage when i joined. I have not and can prove I haven't. They even have records of my usage when I was previously with them and i'm in the same house with the same number of people and circumstances. I'm awaiting the Ombudsman to sort it out. My recommendation would be 'avoid at all costs'.0 -
Been with Avro twice, still with them and have no problems.
In fact I would say they are one of the better suppliers compared to the trouble I`ve had with S power,Eon etc.
Avro let you change tariff internally without penalty and even allow renewing your existing tariff to extend the tariff priod.
Would recommend.2 -
A reminder to keep an eye on their prices, you can 'renew' easily and reset the clock for a fresh year of new fixed price. Of course they are not going to tell you if the current rate is cheaper!
I admit I forget sometimes to keep an eye on it, checked last week and current offer is lower than the one I was on so a few clicks and renew onto the cheaper rates.

Warning! My first direct debit is planned for 12 days after I confirmed I wanted to switch, not the 21 days as it says on the MSE/Avro tariff information. This is 8 days before my switch - how can they ask for money so far up front before the switch date? I had deliberately held off switching so that when I did do it the 21 days would be after my next payday. I now have to cough up a month's direct debit before I get paid. Grrr.0
