It is my view that there is an issue with the government verify system that effectively makes it biased against people with a "thin" credit file, and thus prevents them from being able to get a fully verified account (which is needed to access some of the newer and more interesting services that have been recently released and yet to come through).
As such, this point has been raised with our MP with a request to enquire of the Cabinet Office minister as to how & when it will be easier for people in this situation to become verified.0 -
Does anyone who's managed to register with Experian know where to find a Username as I don't recall giving one, just an email address? It asks for this when following the link to login from the confirmation email. I made a note of my password and memorable information but nothing else.
Thanks
PS Just wondering if this is my actual name - will try and report back. For reference, it's not an actual name - it is an email address. I managed to get into the account and have a look - It only shows the info I registered with.somewhere between Heaven and Woolworth's0 -

The Post Office is one of the verifying parties. What does the Post Office know or care about credit records?0 -
CAUTION: until now I have applied for many many credit cards (I know) partly through need, then through stoozing and then through rewards. I have never ever been asked for further identification. However 1 month after trying and failing to verify I applied for the AA fuel discount card 4% = so a £20 a month saving for me. The AA asked me for certified identity documents (ie not just send my passport, but get an "official" to sign it).
I don't believe this was a coincidence - namely I specifically believe that applying for this service and not passing through to verified has left me in a WORSE position than if I hadn't bothered.
Does anyone know one way or the other if this is true? And if so what to do about it apart from being outraged
I am surprised by the above. Did you read the words correctly? Many organisations ask for a Xerox of a passport and that a responsible person certifies it is a true copy, and some take a copy when you attend in person, but sending the original to anyone but Government?Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0 -

My lack of clarity - they wanted a certified copy not the original - but even that is (IMHO) overkill for a £2k credit card. Worse the list of people who could sign it are all those who charge for the privilegeI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

Ha Ha - Inspired by this thread I thought I had better clear my status
I tried Verizon - I couldn't verify with them because they had the wrong post code for my driving licence
I tried experian - so last of the 4, and my last chance, and I sailed through the process. so I am now pukka - although with 3 failed attempts on my record.
I apologise for derailing this thread from the beta pension service, which I am just now about to go and try!!I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

So my results (the process was very quick after all that)
Amount based on your contributions up to 2015 - £135 a week
Amount if you continue to contribute until 2030 - £151.25 a week
So based on the numbers in the thread above that each years contribution add £4 per week so this would imply I need to work 4 more years before I max out
I did learn that my SRP was 1 year later than I thought - which is a bit of a school boy error - but better to find out now, than nearer the timeI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

This is doing my head in!!! Tried to verify through experian and although it let me set up a pin, when I went back to Gov.uk it said experian couldn't verify me. Maybe it was the fact they asked me what my loan amount was originally, but which one!! Then I tried through the Post Office, they accepted details of my passport and credit card, but as I don't have a photo driving license I had to download an app on my phone, scan in a 'square' from my computer, take photos of front of back of my driving license. And then take a selfie of myself, both from the front and side views. Then upload to their servers for checking and verification. Keeps saying that the photos are not clear enough, they are perfectly clear to me and all the writing can be read. I have tried 4 times and still getting the same result. I believe that all of the verifying partners access credit records with one of the three main UK credit reference agencies as part of the process. How/from where else would they get the info to ask the applicant questions about their financials (e.g. loans, credit card usage etc), information which the CRAs hold, as part of the process of verifying an applicant?!0 -
