VW finance cancellation

As an owner of a VW included in the pollution cheating debacle I wonder if the car can be retuned to the dealer and the finance cancelled due to "goods not as described".

    This again? Oh dear.

I'm surprised my mobile hasn't started ringing with 'I'm calling about the VW you own/might have owned/once considered buying/sat in/looked at on the street' calls.

    Don't be so damn patronising!

I'm not patronising you. 'Oh dear' is my natural response when someone jumps on the newest 'yay, compo!' bandwagon.
  • Not interested in compensation! Bought a car that had the right balance of economy and emissions. It now doesn't comply with the stated emission values that were advertised.
I would like to roll back the deal and purchase a vehicle that does achieve the values I require.

So has the fuel economy changed since you found out about the scandal?

And did you really buy the car for a very specific emissions output?

And VW have committed to correcting the problem, so no issue.

So in an ideal world where you got your money back from VW which car would you now go and buy? I am very keen to hear your opinions and why as it seems they have all been doing it.

  • As someone who calls themselves motorguy I would expect you to realise that the fuel consumption has not changed. For that to have happened a mechanical or electrical adjustment would have had to occur.
As for the emissions, no it was not bought for a specific emissions output but to be within a low banding. Some of us do make a small effort to be eco friendly.
  • A change in car specification does affect the price specification.

I would take VW to court.

My point was - that you missed - what has changed?

The car is just as economical as it was before the scandal broke, and its in the same tax banding, so whats your issue?

Other than this smells of DarkMatter

In which case, what is your argument for handing it back? It's still in a the same CO2 banding, and NOx emissions are not quoted, nor measured, in the UK, so you'll not be able to claim its NOx emissions are 'not as described', as they won't have been described for the UK market.
