Kitchen fitter help/advice urgently needed please

Well had the new oven fitted no problems fingers crossed.
I gave them a cheque for £1000 and told them they will get the balance in cash when I receive the certificates and they were quite happy with that, phew did worry me !!
But thanks all for all help and advice x0 -
That's good, sounds like they generally did know what they were doing if a little slapdash, again looks like they knew what they were talking about with the electrics. the problem is that homeowners don't always see what fitters might have done to ascertain where a fault lies, let alone random posters on the internet.
Enjoy your new kitchen.0 -
Well I have a nice new kitchen,oven/grill is now working properly a few bits could do with tweaking but OH will sort that out.
But fitters have disappeared not answering their phone and have not returned for the rest of their money so I have no certificate to cover the work !!
How easy will it be to get an electrician and gas person in to certify the work ? thank you x0 -
To certify the work probably difficult, but to inspect, test and insure it's safe pretty easy.
I would take this up with the kitchen supplier that recommended them, they will probably be able to exert a bit more leverage.
As previously said swapping one appliance for another with regards to the electrics isn't notifiable, and it does seem that the fitters correctly diagnosed the problem a decent sparks will be able to confirm the safety of the installation.
Fitting of a new gas appliance is notifiable and most fitters wouldn't certify a random persons work, however they may be willing to disconnect and reconnect and then notify for you, they may at a very outside chance be willing to test and then notify for you0
