Kitchen fitter help/advice urgently needed please

Hi is there any kitchen fitters who can help advice me please?
Just had a new kitchen fitted what a mess!! He left about an hour ago we started cleaning the units and found the following -
Induction hob not clamped or sealed to the worktop.
Small chip on the worktop, where the cut and join is.
Cupboard door chips and scuffs along bottom edge.
Fridge door catching on filler.
Under hob drawer not closing (soft close).
Loads of drawer and cupboard not level or flush, door gaps not even.
Plastic left on fillers so can’t be removed.
Under dishwasher jagged whole cut in plinth, no finisher used.
He also fitted a double oven and we used the grill twice and both times blew the trip and fused the lights so we are having a new oven delivered on Wednesday he did say he would come back and take it out and fit the new one on Wednesday hummm.
He’s coming for his cheque tomorrow (Tuesday) what should I do?

Ask him to resolve and make good. I'd suggest making a full and final list and contacting him before he arrives . Does sound a terrible fit as most of the items should not have happened

Firstly don't pay him, advise the job is not been done to your satisfaction and give him a list of the issues you have scheduled.

Quite a few jobs now just sit in place, sprung wedges are part of the appliance so keep the hob fitted tight

Make and model number and the manufactures instructions should be available online for reference

Thanks Andyhop I have looked at the instruction s and I't says "attach the securing clamps " just wondering if it was OK not to fit them. OH found the clamps in the bin ? x

That sounds like a very bad job. I wouldn't pay him a penny until he fixes all the issues, the problem is that he probably isn't capable of fixing them otherwise he would have done it properly in the first place.

I've had 2 kitchens fitted and both were fitted perfectly first time.

Did you buy the kitchen yourself and find him to fit it? If so, how did you find him?

I really feel for you. Did Howdens recommend him or just say that they knew of him?

If he disputes that he had done a bad job which I am sure he will, say that you will put photos up on here and see what other people say. It will then not just be your word against his.
  • I Wouldn't worry about the hob too much. Ours came with bolt on clamps that our worktop provider refused to fit in case it cracked the granite. The hob has just been resting in position ever since with no problem.
  • Has he provided an electrical installation certificate ?
If not please do not use the appliances, it sounds like he has wired in to the Kitchen ring main and not a 30 amp separate feed, this is very dangerous indeed if it is the case.

The offer to fit the new suggests he is covering his tracks.
I do Contracts, all day every day.
