  • The other day I cut up my MBNA card. Just wondering whether to cut up my Natwest one as well. Even though the credit limit is £2500, I don't think I will be spending any more on it. But then, that would leave me without a credit card. This could be a problem if I want to order something online. Hm, will have to think about this one.

Also, toying with the idea of opening a new current account. Might be easier to open a new account for day to day use and keep my existing account just for the overdraft. Then when it's all paid back, I can just close that account. It would make things simpler as right now, I'm paying back my overdraft and doing my day to day spending and bill paying all on the same account.

  • Hi.

Today didn't start off very well. Had such an awful headache for the majority of the day. It only eased during the late afternoon after I'd taken some pain killers and had a strong cup of tea!

Went to Pizza Express today. Had cheesy dough balls and delicious, yummy pizza. Finished with a cappuccino and small scoop of gelato. It was amazing. And how much did that all cost me?

Not a penny because my lovely sister treated me! :)

    Another NSD for me.

Thinking of ebaying up some old things I don't need anymore. Mainly books, CDs and DVDs. I have stacks of them. It would free up a lot of space and hopefully earn me a fair amount of money at the same time. Win, win.

So, I spent 12 minutes madly scanning books and CDs using the We Buy Books app thanks to the tip from the lovely Kitten868. I have loads but given the time, had to do as many as I could. My fault for logging on late! In the end, I managed ... Well, I don't know how many I managed to do. I have a huge pile on my bed which I need to sort out and pack later. The app did tell me that I have made a cool £27.42. Not bad for 12 minutes of work!

Today was okay. Feeling run down. I think it's the weather. When I feel like this, I just want to eat. Bought a veggie pasty from Greggs as well as a Christmas cupcake, a Yum Yum and a drink. It was under a fiver, but still. I don't know what's more shameful - my spending or my eating.

Then succumbed to the Black Friday sales splashed across all the shopping websites. Bought a few Christmas presents and a Nica handbag for myself. It was reduced to £18.99. Still a lot, I know. But Nica handbags cost a lot more otherwise. I've seen some over £50.

So a spendy day but nothing that will ruin the progress I've made this month. All the payments have been made towards my debts for November. I still have a few direct debits to go out in beginning of December but money has been set aside for them.

The weekend is going to be a huge NSD x 2 for me as I'm not planning on going out at all. I'm going to make popcorn, watch films and relax! I also need to scan and pack more books and CDs.

Thank you! Going to get started right now with that.

Aside from the Nica bag, I got quite a few toys from both Debenhams and Amazon. Some of them on Amazon were over 50% off. I've got quite a few young children in my family. I got a few beauty bits such as a make up brush set, eye shadow palette, hair straighteners and a perfume gift box for my sisters and friends. And a shaving kit for my dad! Superdrug are doing up to 65%.

To be honest, the things I bought were perfect for present for the people I bought them for. If it wasn't for Christmas or birthdays, there wasn't much (aside from the Nica bag) that struck my fancy. Actually, I did want a pair of GHD straighteners but my non-GHD ones work fine and I couldn't justify the spend! :o

  • Okay, took a little break from the books-CDs-DVDs sorting to have some lunch (soup and half a roll followed by a naughty slice of cake) and to clear out my purse. In the last 4 months, I have paid off and cancelled my Nationwide credit card, HSBC credit card, Capital One credit card and Santander credit card. I can't believe I was still lugging these around with me. It was really satisfying cutting them up!

The Natwest credit card will still be used to buy things online such as train tickets as I get such a massive discount on tickets when I book well in advance. (I refuse to use my one and only debit card online!) Once both Natwest and MBNA are paid off, I will close the Natwest card down and use the MBNA one strictly for online purchases. I have resolved never to use a credit card in store for small spends. I'll only ever use it if I'm buying something over £100 for the protection.

Purse is looking nice and decluttered now. My lonely debit card and my driver's license surrounded by a few loyalty cards. Boots, Tesco, Sainsburys, Costa and a cheeky one for a local dessert place! Having lots of different loyalty cards just makes me want to spend more in places I wouldn't normally shop in otherwise so they have all been binned now!

Decluttering really does feel good. Hoping to tackle my wardrobe next.

  • Rainbow, I'm with you on so many things! The which is more shameful - my eating or my spending - is something I think pretty regularly! And I'm working hard at the moment to declutter as much of my life as possible. It makes me feel so much better when I don't have a bunch of junk surrounding me all the time!

YAY FOR CUTTING UP THE CARDS!

4 credit cards in four months! I'm so jealous! Must feel fabulous! I've done one and it didn't feel as good as I thought it would. Instead of focusing on what I'd achieved I was anxious about starting the next credit card. It's nice to see how positive you're feeling about it all and how well you're doing :) xxx
