Valid 14 November 2015 – 16 November 2015 for fixed price with best offer or auction-style. Selling limits,
final value fees and other limitations apply. Listings in second category excluded. See T&Cs.

I don't want to chance taking them off, as the last time when I had increased the price on the items that I had listed during the promotion £5 and under, it was shown as 'it's going to cost £0.00 until I submitted it and then it came up with 'you will be charged £3.50 for those listings' (there were 10 of them). I didn't feel like I had a leg to stand on with eBay on that matter, as they probably would just refer me back to T & C, so just let that one go. But as I say, After that, don't really want to risk being charged for removing the 'best offer' option too.

Ah right. I had a different offer for November.

So you're doing the opposite to me lol. You're leaving it on just in case and I'm taking it off just in case.

It could have just been that relisting and increasing the price caused the issue. Might have been a glitch. Ebay really should make it clear about Best Offer during promotions though.

    Hehe looks like it Flyonthewall!

This is it, I didn't relist those items, I just edited them. It would've been much simpler to end and relist them, as I had another promotion going at the time, but there were a few watchers, so didn't want to loose them but on the other hand didn't want to let go another 10 items at a £5 each. eBay, can't live with it, can't live without it :)

Phew, it's not one mine then lol. Did they call it antique too Or is it not as old to be qualified as an antique?

Nah, it's just off the high street - totally unremarkable. If I do make my 60% offer it'll probably be a little generous for what the item's actually worth.

It's understandable though - when you look at your stuff you see what you paid for it, not what other people might be willing to pay for it second-hand after a few years' use.

And how do you find that working for you?
Its worked fine for me, have always managed to sell items at the asking price, with the exception of one or two BINs I have agreed to as they were over the asking price. ;)

You realise though that if anyone is offering over the asking price they're probably a scammer. Why else would they be happy to pay over if they don't have to.
I cannot say I have been scammed in all those Years as a result..

One item was for an JVC amp. a BIN offer was given with the reason that it matched their cd player and tuner. They offered slightly over the price to secure a win and won. Had they offered lower I would have said to put in the bid at that price and good luck.

It still gets me every single time with the children toys or even children's clothes for that matter. Fine, some of them do get some beating and are not worth a fraction of the money that they originally cost, but then other stuff is in an excellent condition, cost £25-35 and people turn their noses when you ask £3-4 for it. I suppose the item is only worth what the other person is prepared to pay for it, and some people looking to buy something for nothing, when the next person will actually think how much it cost originally and how much money they would be saving by buying the item used opposed to the new one.

We can go on and on with this one :rotfl:

You say BIN offer but then state they won. So did they still bid or did you add a BIN for the price which they then bought?

People often bid over what an item's worth because they get carried away. Offering more on a set price is a common scam.

In that case was it an item that is hard to get a hold of? If so being willing to pay a little more to have matching items makes sense. If not I get wanting a set but seems they're a bit stupid lol.

Not as bad as with books. Can pay £8 or more for a book new from a shop, never even read and yet you'll be lucky to get 50p back for it if you try reselling it. Costs more in postage than what it's worth (especially if it's a thick book). Lucky if you sell it at all.

With some things, leave it 20+ years you may get back what you paid lol.

They offered a BIN and I agreed a sale, they did not need to put in a bid at that point. I assume the amp in question was no longer available for sale hence the offer.

Another one was for a PS2, with around 150 games, wireless pads and even a keyboard (never did work out why a PS2 would have a keyboard). I had a BIN offer for the asking price, that they lived around the corner and could pick it up that day. I relented and let them have it for the price, suspecting I might not get the asking price in the bidding as PS2s were pretty much redundant at the time.

I never put items on a BIN offer, I only sell the item for a specific price and await the bidding, sometimes I get less as a result. But do make a point of only taking BIN offers that are either slightly over or the precise sale price.

So am I right to understand that you start an auction type listing then add BIN price to it? Then it would make sense to me, as people do occasionally offer you more to Buy it now instead of waiting until the end of the auction. But is that not usually cost more to add? Plus, the minute somebody puts a bid in, it invalidates BIN button, so it's a bit of a gamble.
