    already sent my own,;void cheque and paying in slip, as requested, to the address you gave me;
    They sent 2 messages yesterday, repeating, (5th time) they require verification.
    no mention of a letter, Sao, or address, after me repeatedly asking, ( 5 times).
    I don't think they read them,it's different people every message.
    I will get a letter, after they have received mine.I will probably send a second lot, I feel like asking them just to return my £50k,(last £10k just gone).
    All this to gain an extra 0.25% over Close Bros.
    Should have just rolled it over at 2.2%, less hassle:)
    Is it worth it.?
    Beginning to wonder.:(
    No doubt it will sort itself out:beer:.
    I didn't get any email re the bank verification just a letter in the post.
    I'm sure it will all sort itself out in the end - its just annoying when you do it online then you have to start sending stuff in the post.

    iT,s getting beyond a joke now!
    I told them yesterday that I have sent verification , and have sent £10k a day since Friday!
    Today She replied via internal message, OK, that,s fine, BUT, my balance of £10k on Friday, has gone, now £0, even though I,ve sent £30k.
    Waiting to see if She rectifies it before I send another £10k today!
    I checked messages earlier before I sent today's £10k.
    I,m getting everything via messages, I haven,t a clue what they are doing, and I doubt they do!
    Looks like another phone call later! Probably to cancel the whole lot!
    edit?
    Just phoned, some plonker returned my first £10k!
    No one knows why!,,,,
    I,ve decided to persist with them,God knows why?

    Looks like you've been unlucky as my deposits went straight through.

    If someone messed themselves, it would end up in my pants.

    Could be worse, I could not have the funds to invest!

    EDIT::As I said , just received 3 identical letters, and 3 prepaid envelopes to send verification of the same one nominated account.
    You couldn't make it up;;

    If anyone paid me, as a banker, £9999, I think it could set alarm bells ringing. £9999 is tantalizingly close to £10000 the max which my bank has for electronic transfers, and suspect for money laundering?

    Do normal people transfer sums like £9999 in this type of transaction? Hmmm.

    Well I don't know if I fit into your view of 'normal' but I've certainly done exactly the same as joe on a number of occasions, i.e. a £1 test transaction preceding the £9999 balance of a £10K bank transfer.

    Are you saying that you think £9999 is inherently more suspicious than £10K because of that 'missing' £1, i.e. that your alarm bells would ring for £9999 but not £10K?!

    What's Normal??
    I always send a £1 tester to any new bank, so it's logged into my payees with my nominated bank, which is Hsbc, then,when it's cleared,(safety) I don't have to keep typing a\c numbers every transaction,there after, it's already logged,;
    As the daily limit is only £10k, I could only send another £9999 to add to the £1, making the £10k .and £10k a day there after.
    This is normal, unless you want to risk, your money to a unknown bank, on the first transaction, or a mistype , which I've done before?
    Hsbc will just say NO, if I try over £10k,no alarm bells ring,( just mine) other banks have higher limits.
    In this case, I probably would have been better, sending a cheque, as they seem to want to verify most accounts, by post,, not electronically, or cannot.???
    Don't know why? Probably just being over cautious of Laundry?
    It's a long time since this has happened, but, that's life.
    It's still ongoing,the Saga ain,t over yet, the Fat Lady hasn't sung:rotfl:

    I always do a small tester amount to any new account for the same reasons above.

  • I have a fixed rate bond with Shawbrooks and had to go through the same verification palaver as you describe, Joe, even though I'd had the nominated bank account for the last forty years. To be fair, once verified I've had no further problems with them.

    Me too; I never send large sums through cyber space without taking the above precaution and making sure the money gets there okay.

    If the bank is suspicious of that and don't like it.....tough!! ;)
    A cunning plan, Baldrick? Whatever it was, it's got to be better than pretending to be mad; after all, who'd notice another mad person around here?.......Edmund Blackadder.
