UKCPS sent letter for money, but I wasn't there?

UKCPS not UKCP sent a letter to my address in the South of England and haven't left the South since last Christmas, claiming last month (October) I was in some place in Newark (which is in the Midlands! The paper looks really unprofessional and dodgy. Do I just ignore it? Or do I call them and say I definitely wasn't there?
Also, is it true you can ignore all car parking tickets from private companies, but not the council without fear of being taken to court?

You're going to have to be a bit clearer on the name of the parking company. Don't recognise any called (just) 'UKCP'.
Precise names are important, so could you give us the full details from the letterhead you've received please. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Could you give the date the letter was sent and the title of it? Are you the Registered Keeper? Is it UKPC or UKCPS or UKCPM. Logo would help.

UKCPS. I am the registered keeper.
Shall I upload a scanned image of this letter?
The letter's colour images look like they were copied by a cheap colour photocopier!0 -
edit post #1 to give the correct UKCPS name and also edit the title of the thread (advanced edit in post #1) to again give the correct PPC name
UKCPS are an IPC member so read the info in the NEWBIES sticky thread about IPC members and also read parking pranksters blog dated 30 oct 2015 as well
NEVER phone a ppc or debt collector about these matters
ps:- UKCPS are not claiming that YOU were there, they are claiming that THE VEHICLE was there, totally different set of facts0 -
Send a letterDear UKCPS.
Car was never there so please check your details. In the meantime I am reporting this unlawful access to my personal details to the DVLA.

Complain to the DVLA that your details have been unlawfully accessed and you wish them (the DVLA) or the IPC to investigate and reply - insist on a reply. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
What happens if I ignore them?
The paper they sent is a joke, it's obviously a scam! I am moving soon, honestly when me or my car were no where near that location, why should I bother?0
