Tablet without wifi

I'm looking for a tablet that can be connected to the internet via a cable.
Alternatively, a tablet that my DC would be able to use in airplane mode. I read some tablets want you to be connected or the apps may not work properly.
Thanks.

I am not aware of any tablet works with cable
  • If you get one of these adapters, you can connect a tablet to an ethernet (wired) internet connection - http://www.amazon.co.uk/BobjGear-Micro-USB-OTG-Ethernet-Micro-USB-Warranty/dp/B012LSJ6IK/

It plugs into the tablets micro-USB port, using 'USB-On the go' to provide the connection; so you'll need to find a tablet that supports OTG (most new ones should)

That *should* then work on most Android tablets. Read the reviews and people say what tablets it works with.

IF some app really wants the device to be connected, then running it on a device that can't connect doesn't change anything. A tablet without wifi would be no different from any normal tablet with wifi switched off.

Do you want a cable connection simply because you don't have wifi at home?

i am not aware of any tablets that connect ONLY by cable either - kinda defeat the object of having a small portable device if you cant use it without connecting a cable.

otherwise, yes a lot of apps will not work without a internet connection - there are also lots that will, but it can be hit and miss.
    Drop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
    10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
    20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)

Can I ask what you are trying to achieve with this ?

It might enable some to offer an alternative solution

Simple tablet with WiFi turn wifi OFF .
The apps that require internet will not work with no internet connection whatever your connection method .
  • Many thanks for your replies.

I do have wifi at home but it's switched off - it makes me ill so we just use cables instead. I don't really need the tablet but thought it would be a good idea for my DC to have access to some educational apps. He plays on my WP at the moment but the choice of apps isn't great and the screen is too small.

If I really had to I would be able to switch wifi on to load apps and then switch it back off but it wouldn't be ideal especially that some apps don't work offline.

What about all the wi-fi from your neighbours-how do you block that as well? I am in a fairly average urban street and can see 16 other networks available...
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Or the EMF signals from microwave ovens, baby monitors, wireless telephone handsets, bluetooth devices, mobile phone networks, TV transmissions, THE SUN, Radio stations...

Anyhoo, we aren't here to judge
  • Luckily the closest neighbours are elderly and don't have wifi. We do pick up wifi from neighbours further away but it's not very strong. We do not own a microwave, baby monitor, cordless phone etc. Mobile phones are in airplane mode if not used. The EMF reader shows very low levels of radiation everywhere in the house so I am just fine.
