The microwave puts out way more EMF than the router ever will.

    Yes , 100,000 times more ..

Scary when you think about it

Not really, still well below levels thought to cause harm to living cells

My router and microwave are at opposite corners of the house, but the speed still plummets even if you stand next to the router. The microwave puts out way more EMF than the router ever will.

It certainly is. You need to scrap your microwave and buy a new one. Microwave leakage at that sort of level could cause cataracts if you spend long watching it (basically by cooking your cornea).

Safety standards for microwave ovens set a maximum of 5mW leakage and most are far better. A home router typically runs at 100mW

Seems to me that a tablet without wi-fi is about as much use as an electric car that needs to be permanently connected to an extension lead...
Since you will be static anyway, why not just use a conventional laptop or PC connected by ethernet?
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Why? You say this like tablets are used for internet only.

You can charge the car and then drive it for a while.
Similarly, you can load everything you need to a tablet, then use it autonomously.

Similarly to a satnav that needs connection for updates or downloading maps only. Or a e-reader, iPod etc.

If you worry about the signals from your home wifi you wont want to live near anyone with a microwave.

We do not own a microwave, baby monitor, cordless phone etc. Mobile phones are in airplane mode if not used.
    ...
The EMF reader shows very low levels of radiation everywhere in the house
And, unlike WiFi that is normally on 24/7 (some possibly switch it off at night), microwaves are usually used for minutes, not even hours. I hardly ever use mine for longer than 6 minutes and more than 1-2 times a day.

As this condition is psychosomatic, I would guess that the little square of flat plastic doesn't make the user feel as ill as a big electrical glowing whirring laptop ??

Exactly. Ebooks can be loaded, Amazon Prime/BBC iplayer content downloaded for offline use, even Google maps is going offline (inc. navigation) shortly. Games don't need you to be online most of the time eithe.

There's loads you can do with an offline tablet

In this case the tablet will emit 3/4g signal that is much more powerful than the signal it receives. I guess much more powerful even than wifi signal because of the big distance and the cubic law governing the power needed.

Now you're getting all scientific. OP specified avoiding WiFi.

Yes, and 3/4g is also WIFI, just not "home" wifi.

The signal your mobile emits to talk to the nearest mast is A LOT stronger than any signal put out by your home wifi router

Later, but before your post, she specified avoiding EMF, but you suggested using much more strong EMF instead of weak WiFi.

    Anything wrong with being scientific?
