Another good answer is that you phoned your landlord this afternoon and he isn't prepared to improve the house. Don't tell the salesman you're the owner, only a tenant.
I used to say that I was a tenant and not the owner so couldn't make a decision and when they asked me for the LL's number, I just said that they were living abroad and I had no idea where and left it at that.Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free

It is quite obvious that if OP had been out when the telephone call to confirm the appointment was made by the salesman, the salesman would have turned up. The instructions by the OP to the company to cancel the appointment were ignored/not passed to the salesman.
Normally, I agree that good manners cost nothing but not in this case.
Maybe it's company policy to double-check before sending a salesman out.
You're just assuming that if the OP hadn't been in to cancel the appointment, the salesman would have turned up.
And you're just assumming that the call hadn't been passed on.
Maybe it had but the company was just trying it on to see if they could change the OP's mind and talk him into going ahead with the appointment.
We have no way of knowing.
All my post said was I'm glad the salesman didn't have a wasted journey.0 -
It's not obvious at all.

I apologise if you were offended, I should have said "obvious to me".0 -
Safe style windows and doors are a complete pain in the bum, I had work done by them (not very good I might add) but they keep calling me back with the very friendly "hello how are you " approach hoping to sell you more even after I told them all is done there is nothing else left. There salesmen will give you the usual load of rubbish to get the sale but for me in reality the end product was no better than the old, and the fitting teams are very hit and miss."Imagination is more Important than knowledge"0
