The guy caught me off guard and talked me into having a quote for new windows tomorrow evening. He was pretty pushy and managed to secure an appointment. he even tried to bring it forward to today but I just wanted to get rid of him and not be rude. We do need new windows in the future but I am not sure what kind of company they are. I just need to get out of this appointment and decide for myself who I want in my own time when we have the money.
Are they worth a look at least ?

The kind of company that will talk you into having an appointment that you don't want.
Imagine how difficult it's going to be to get them out of your house without giving a signed order!0 -
If you need new windows in the future, wouldn't you rather choose a few companies and ask them to come round and do a quote so you can compare prices instead of succumbing to pressure from somebody who just happened to ring you up and caught you off guard?
Shouldn't you be in charge of when you want a quote for new windows instead of someone else?
I would never, ever agree to any cold callers making an appointment for anything - and that includes the door-knockers.
In fact, if I don't recognise the number, I don't answer.
I would be cancelling the appointment pdq.
Aren't you registered with TPS?0 -
Either cancel the appointment or make sure you are out tomorrow night.0

I have emailed their customer service and told them I don't want them round.0

It sounds when you say you had a call it was on the phone.
Many moons ago i use to be a Rep for Everest and we had to do cold calling (horrible horrible job. i hated it), but all our canvassing was knocking.
We'd go knocking around tea time trying to collect 'names' that we cpuld go back on. They told us it was the easiest job in the world. All we had to do was knock on 30 doors, then by the law of averages we'd get 10 names, when we went back on those people 3 would let us in the house to do a 'dem', out of those 3 one would buy. So there you go it's guaranteed knock on 30 doors a night and you'll get a sale every night. If only, believe me it's not true.
So when the guy turns up don't be afraid not to let him in, most people are going to knock him back and he's expecting it. Tell him when your husband got home he blew up and told you that there are more important things before windows.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

Suggest that you have a friend around to help, just in case you still get a visit. They should be able to back you up. If history is anything to go by they will still likely come (Sorry, did not get the message, oh while i'm here I should show you, without any obligation, og course) Br prepared:grouphug: Threewheeler0

I was cold called by a knock at the door. I will just not answer in the hope they won't bother again. They said something about a courtesy call ater today just to make sure they can come tomorrow.0

Now that I've got Call Guardian set up, I don't get any cold callers.
But before, when I used to get calls, I'd always politely say no thank you and put the phone down, before they even got a chance to engage with me.
Same goes with cold callers at the door - a polite no thank you and I'll shut the door.
I'm not sure that an email will be enough to stop them coming round for the appointment, but whatever you do, don't let them in - you'll never get rid of them until you sign up for buying some windows!Early retired - 18th December 2014

not worth it as the bold bits should tell you what they could be like if you let them into your house. Be prepared for a long meeting, and if you cant say no on the phone who knows what they will talk you into in person.
be rude next time, put the phone down. I wouldn't even think that was rude.0 -
You have to be firm with companies if you give a inch they take a mile. I never do business with any cold callers and as above I block cold callers with truecall never get the landline ring in 5 years I have had it they try but fail
Any callers that do call at door they no within secs they wont get anywhere with me I can be as pushy as them when I want too. I am usually firm but polite but dare they go any further and they will get a mouth full from me, never once had to as yet. I think they know there on a loser with me0
